The theory (fact) of evolution

You are confusing Evolution with Natural selection, which is a theory of the mechanism by which Evolution is acheived.

You will find I have already made this point.

In any meaningful way Evolution is a fact, but there are various theories as to the mechanism concerning Evolution. I agree with the Natural Selection theory, but I dont assume it to be universal fact.

the context in which H.J Muller was writing is also needed as he was comparing Evolution to Creationism. He also said "when I say fact, I mean that the probability is a high one." Its a philosophical question not a scientific one.

As I studied as a Physicist, I could argue the reality of the entire universe is open to question. The chief rule in science is Never Assume...

Ok - I thought you were saying that evolution wasn't an accepted scientific fact, but now I see you were just talking about the mechanism that allows it to occur. Natural selection is the best theory, and it is supported by lots of evidence and I have very little doubt that natural selection is what makes evolution possible. The evidence that I have read makes natural selection as much as a fact as evolution in my eyes. Im a lawyer by the way. lol. I dont claim to be able to write very scientifically but I think I have a decent grasp of evolution. The basics anyways¬!

I agree from a philosophical point of view, but from a scientific one I would leave myself some room for maneuvre (just in case) :D

What's really odd, is how primitive cholroplasts managed to be a single entity to becoming an organelle in a plant...that would be like a beneficial parasite being coded and passed down generation to generation...

Hasn't that got something to do with blue-green algae or endosymbiotic cyanobacteria as its now known? I don't really understand what you are asking?

so this is as good as evolution could manage?

Pretty much yes so far. But as evolution isn't a concious thing it doesn't really matter. However if you think that we are designed then I would ask why did said designer make such a bad job of it? Why is it happy that about 1/3 of all pregnancies die and that childbirth can be fatal? Why is it happy with so many flaws in just the physical design never mind the psychological?
