So that's three owners it has had in just over half a year (Despite the seller claiming one?). Why have they all wanted shot of that car having barely owned it a couple of months?
To be fair he says one previous owner, maybe Gav is the other guy's friend which would indeed make it 1 previous owner. If not then it's 2 not 3.

What I don't get is on the one hand Mike has 'nothing better to do with £5k' than 'invest' it in an 11 year old Civic, yet on the other he's prepared to lose this apparently perfect car by by 'walking away' if the seller doesnt accept his 'tiny amount lower' offer.
If the offer is only a tiny amount surely you'd take it at his asking price if he said no?

Because I bought another car, I change cars often!
I was the only owner in this country before the current owner who has had the car for around 6 weeks, he told me when purchasing that it was a temporary stop gap before he got himself an S14 which I think he has now made an offer on.
They are obviously such awesome cars which draw you in - once you've got one, you are hooked, its hard to move on!

Basically they are great cars, why people sell them on is up to them.
Just check out the amount of owners on a 10 year old Porsche, many have 9/10 owners. Its just the way with toys, you buy, you sell and you move on to the next best toy on your list.

I don't doubt that.
But 306 Rallye's are great cars. Nissan 200SX's are great cars. Subaru Imprezas are great cars. Clio 182's are great cars.
All are either half the price or half the age for the same price.
Most 10 year old Porsche's dont have 10 owners either, and although its true that people swap out of exotic stuff more often after few months is a bit extreme. And it's a Civic not a 911 Turbo

A car is worth its market value, just because a totally different make of car sells for less that does not have a bearing on the value of an EK9.
If you do not want to buy an EK9 for 5k then don't, some people do and this is what keeps the values of the car high. When there are no buyers left at that valuation then the price will readjust accordingly.
There is no sign that this is happening yet though, if this car was white it would have sold for 6k, simple. The only thing that is limiting its market further is the colour.

The EK9 market seems weird. The same cars are for sale for months and months. Occasionally one sells to somebody taken in by the whole 'scene' whilst everyone else just buys other hot hatches which are proabably just as good yet more fairly priced.
Meanwhile, the rest of the car market turns over far quicker at more realistic prices.

I'm a huge honda fanboy. EK9 residuals are mental, absolutely insane. Same as DC2's.
It doesn't make any sort of sense other than having OMG AWESOME VTEC LAWLS (which, as a previous s2000 owner for 3 years I agree is amazing on the right road/track/etc) paying double for an older car with less stuff.
IMO, if I was getting a DC2 or ITR I'd want as close to a 1 owner, low mile, totally immaculate standard example as I could find. I'd then keep it absolutely stock apart from maybe using mugen parts for tuning, keeping originals when I came to sell. These cars are even more hillariously priced (6-8k for a DC2 like that I'd imagine?)
They are great fun cars, but you can't honestly go for one over a 172/182 without accepting it is slightly crazy paying more money... therefore you wont ever sell one quickly.
