The tiny engine that could change the world

*sigh*

The current one only runs on CO2 as a proof of concept that it all rotates and valves open and shut and whatnot - the prototypes are made of plastic. The actual device will run on methanol and will be made of a ceramic material.

Oh and while the final device may well be 7mmx10mm, think how small the valves and springs and pins inside it are. Pretty nano if you ask me!

Sounds pretty damn good, although I'd probably class it in micrometres not nano, but that's only my guess. :p

how many rpm can i get out of this baby?

anyone making a vtec system for it?

do i need a license for it?

My iPods got VTEC yo!

Maybe even a turbo for those high power applications? It's the Duracell bunny on steriods :p

Nano is 10^-6 m, even if there are components of 1 mm in size that is still only 10^-2 m so it is four orders of magnitude larger than nano-scale.

Deffo needs a w16 quad turbo config, then you could build some kickass mini remote controlled veyron :p

tbh i wouldn't want to fill my laptop up at the petrol station or have exhaust pipes coming out the back. Noise wise, is it going to be like a scaled down version of the single cylinder engines you get for nitro cars?

whiny and irritating.

looks, cool. Can't wait we s need batter replacements and the co2 produced is nothing, how do you think your battery's are charged up?

At least a nano motor will be more effecient.

who said anything about nanometers? maybe it's nanomile technology.

nano just means small, if my flatmate's iPod nano was nanometers in size, she'd lose it a lot more than she does at the moment.

and 10^-6 is micro anyway.
