The Top 7... PR disasters

I've had a 360 for over a month now... never paid even close to £50.00 for a game. The most was £37.00 for Project 8... and I would have paid an extra fiver for that, excellent game, well designed, worth the price tag.

You would have when the 360 was launched (if you managed to get one!).

I paid between £44.99 and £49.99 for every game for the first 4 months.

Was that only on the high street? I never paid that much

Even at launch, it was pretty easy to get any game for £39.99. Personally, the most I have paid for a 360 game was £34.99 and that was Crackdown.

Perhaps a greater underlying theme here is not to buy consoles on launch day... get stung on both price and available titles!

Would send a pretty compelling message to Sony if only a fraction of their PS3's were sold in Europe.

Only ever bought 3 games and got bored. PGR3 with the console at £50 (no real choice there). RR6 for £45 from 4 letter superstore and ... hold on, those were the only 2 games I ever bought! LOL.

I know £40 is about the average these days online so it's cool.

Secondly they launched the console badly, Microsoft and Nintendo both did global launches, which to me, is a lot more satisfying. People comparing the amount of consoles availible at launch saying Sony has more... They better have a few months down the line, if you imagine Nintendo did the same as Sony and left the UK launch till now... They would have a lot more consoles too... I would rather have it soon than see it on shelves ready for someone else to buy.
I completely disagree. Look at the scenes from the Japanese and American launches and consider what they would've been like if the allocation of consoles was shared with Europe as well.
It obviously takes time and money to produce each console so you can't just say they should have had more available - I'm sure they would've been churned out as quickly as possible to have as many as possible for launch.

The European launch being 4 months later is the best option, even for us Europeans. I fully expect anyone to be able to walk into any major games retailer over the weekend and be able to pick up a PS3. Can you say that about the Wii, 4 months after its supposed launch? I enquired about getting one the other day and they are still sold out everywhere.
So, on the one hand, people who want one on launch can almost certainly get one, and people who were desperate for one earlier could've quite easily picked one up on import.
Now don't get me wrong, in a perfect world there would be enough for everybody in all regions, but this is definitely the next best thing. The only thing that would have made it better is if Sony didn't have such a problem with people importing...

Just about every network in the states is supporting it i think its success is
not a case of if but when.

Ask yourself now if you had the chance to view some of the latest movies in Hi Def via your X360 for about £3 would you use it?

so would these downloads be transferable and burnable (and would they legally?)

would you really pay £3 when you can get it for free quicker?

Its the eternal question of when does one have "enough" to launch, obviously Nintendo's production schedule has had better execution, Nintendo have sold around 5m consoles, yet sony have sold less than half that and still have "delays"...

Again the WII has sold a lot more units, the demand IS higher (at the moment).

Sony are a pretty big international company, with a good few years experience in the console market. The PS3 is not something that Sony thought up 6 months ago... They've had plenty of time to organise a launch that would not alienate some of those that help create Sony's profits!

I understand that the 360 was hard to get hold of on worldwide launch, and I accept that, something this popular is always going to be sought after... however, at least M$ had the understanding of ALL their markets, and decided to not exclude any of them with the launch of a much hyped, much demanded console.

That being said, I'm happy with my 360 and don't really care what happens to the PS3... I hope it sells a billion units - or bankrupts the company. Not fussed eitherway. Sony lost my custom months ago.
