The Tuniq Tower 120 CPU "FAN"

Looking at one of these for my system im going to be building next week..
Im aiming for a quite as poss case without skimping to much on airflow.

How does the stock fan perform, is there better more quiter fans to replace it with that offer better airflow??? also is it easy to swop out??

Cant say i've seen or used one in *** flash so im a bit unsure..
This will be in my silverstone case cooling a q6600 go im hoping to clock to 3.0-3.2ghz

The tuniq comes with a speed adjuster that goes in a pci backplate. At low revs it quiet, at higher revs its louder but offers great airflow. Its easy enough to swop out and even on low revs the cooler is a fantastic one. I did replace mine for a silent fan to minimise the clutter of cables runnign through my case. You would be surprised to how huge this hsf is. I would just see if you are happy with it, then decide on buying a different fan.
 
i have no issues with the standard fan

its very quiet and happily keeps overclocked C2Ds at 40 degrees ish under load.
 
Id replace the fan. Reviews have shown that the Turniq has one of the best cooling abilities when the fan is at full speed but drop it down and its jsut an above average heat sink. replace it with a quite powerful fan and it will do well.
 
hmmm, never thought of doing that! What fan would you suggest to get maximum air flow through, i dont really care about noise. or would it be best to keep the fan in, and stick another on the side of the Tuniq tower?
 
Dont add another fan, as it will add turbulence to it, and decrease the efficiency therefore affecting the cooling,. Better to have one good fan. The tuniq is great at removing heat by itself, the fan inside makes it better. If noise doesnt bother you, the tuniq fan has excellent airflow at high speeds.

Mind recommending the best fan for the job ?
I dont no much about custom fans, ive always just used stock in the past, before the noise of 8 case fans did me head in, they were all just fans to me..

Well i know sharkoons are the best at litraly "pushing" the air. the Noctua are briliant for very quite and fast air flow. But if they need to push against things they arnt very good as they dont have many fins(so dont use Noctua with air filters)

If you have a speed controler this would be excellent, also i beleive you can use the mobo to control the cpu fan?

Tjhey really push a lot of air and hard which would be great at getting into all those fins unlike the noctua which pushed air fast and quietly but not very hard.


but full blast it would be quite loud at 36db.

There is often a bit of fuzzy thinking on this (I being a prime culprit).

1. If you don't mind the noise of the fan at full pelt (and yes, it is noisy). Then don't buy another one. The Tuniq fan does the job and is inclusive in the price.

2. If you want thinks reasonably silent, then think again re: the Tuniq, as purchasing one plus another fan makes it quite dear relative to other options. The Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler is arguably a better cooler for a similar price once you've added a Scythe S-Flex or similar to it.
 
just been fiddling within abit's uGuru, I've set the Tuniq fan to be at 35% when the cpu temps are below 50c, which is most of the time unless I'm gaming and set all my case fans on minimum.

I've lowered my overclock from 3.6 to 3.5, as my temps were getting a bit out of control;72+, even with all my fans on max. My new load temperature is only 61, and thats with all my fans on minimum except for my top 200mm case fan and the Tuniq Tower which is set to come on 100% when on load
 
scrap that, im back up to 3.6, as I realise now my cpu fan wasnt on max during stress testing! must have lost my fan settings at some point, now I'm back to 3.6 with load temps of 65!
