So any of you stream to Twitch or YouTube Gaming at all (or any other streaming site for that matter)?

I thought this would be a good thread to discuss issues with streaming.

I'm planning on starting live streaming seriously in the new year. I'm just waiting for some kit to arrive. I'm thinking of buying the Blue Yeti microphone, a pop filter and a shock mount for it. Once I have these things I should have everything I need to stream properly. Of course I'll need to open a new Twitter account for communicating with people when I'm not streaming but other than that I should be good to go.

I have a list of games that I'd like to stream that hardly ever get any play time on the main streaming sites so I think there is going to be a gap in the market as these games have quite a loyal and dedicated following.

So what hardware and software do you use for your streaming needs? I've heard that having a really good quality microphone is the most important aspect of live streaming and I'm inclined to agree with the people who say that. I hate it when there is really poor audio quality.

Big twitch thread here for any info you may have missed:

Audio quality is important. Not just levels but also hearing any sort of background noise in streams is a big NO NO for me. Audio stuff was the hardest thing to balance on the technical side of things. I use/used OBS, although a fair few people use xsplit too.

I got a lot of good feedback (not literally) from users regarding the quality of the mic I use which is a M-AUDIO producer USB mic, I've had it on a £8 cheap mic arm from eBay and its worked perfectly. Cost about £60 in total.

Best of luck with your streaming adventure!

Ah cool thanks for the link. I didn't see that when looking, I'll make sure to check it out.

Also yeah I'll order the microphone today or tomorrow and spend a few days playing around with it to make sure I have it set up correctly before I actually start streaming.
