The Unofficial Fallout 3 Thread

This is a great game (playing PC version). One of my favourites this year. There is a bit on top of the Washington Tower when you look down on the city, this bit looks fantastic, especially on a 40" LCD at 1920x1080 maxed out.

It's like a fusion of Oblivion (RPG) + Resistance: Fall of Man (atmosphere) + The Darkness (whole underground trekking, which I admit is one of the negative points for me)

I must admit I find it quite easy to kill people with that "auto" aim system, I didn't even realise about it until well into the game. I can see why people find it boring at the start because it is quite mundane, but when you get into it, get proper weapons etc it's great fun.

the lighting is pretty good - though it doesnt look as good at night.

just had hard fight with 2 shellcrab like creatures and my assault rifle out of ammo so had to rely on 10 mm and stimpacks phew...

I like how the game actually is hard, I'm finding myself running out of ammo loads and struggling to get people down at times.

Playing on Hard mode too. :p

Man oh man, this game is really hard if you just persue the main quest story! :( had to start again and build some levels on side quests for additional weapon skill just to be able to hit the super mutants a bit further on, and they are still really tough :( Armed with an assault rifle and barely no ammo, and a 10mm :( Sucks!

I gave a lot of skill points towards unarmed and melee attack. I killed most in melee. Wont run out of ammo then, only need to repair the item used now and then, but cheaper and more effective I think.

I've invested in shotfuns and assault rifle, it only gets tough with those minigun super mutants... got to the mall so far and all I need to do is sneak around and shotgun them from behind :)

totally agree! just outside megaton on one of the first sidequests (i'm lvl 4) and im fighting supermutant brutes?? Well only one at least.. I had to use all 3 of my grenades on him whilst dodging his mini-gun fire. (no 5.56 mm ammo only pistol crappy ammo)

still now i have a mini-gun ho ho ho ;) (also have combat shotgun which is nice :D - but im struggling to get any ammo for weapons in this game - are you supposed to find them lying around?)

edit: is stuff just lying around in the wasteland? If it is i cant see it! Because of the way the graphics are a lot of objects look similar so its hard to make out if that tiny object one the ground in the distance is a goodie or just a rock... still though could be worse ...they could be flashing neon colours for objects that can be picked up (which would destroy the immersion heh)

The Fatboy rocks. :p

How do you get trained to use Power Armour?

I have a helmet and body armour weighing me down but can't use it yet. :(

Also, I killed Dukov hoping I would get his house and ladeez but nothing happened other than I found a key on him but not sure what to use it on.

Were o you find ammo for the minigun?

I got one from a Super Mutant Brute I killed with a mini nuke to the head. :p

i dont have any :( had barely any when i got it off his corpse. Also i find as well that most of the weapons/apparel/etc you scavenge are in dire need of repair... i think that will be one of the skills i focus on to bump it up.

I got a fair amount of drugs though :D Proper junkie me ;)

I got addicted to Psycho, pain in the bum when you get withdrawal symptoms. I ended up dosing him with more every so often.

I'm absolutely loving this game I must say. Ammo is not a problem for me, i've managed to stockpile about 2500 rounds of 5.56mm from looting & exploration. Most ammo seems to take up no weight in your inventory either.. which is useful. However, i'm finding weapon and apparel decay a real annoyance, stuff seems to wear out far too quickly.

I seem to be getting the hang of combat now too and have paid some more points in to my sneak skill. I'm creeping around a bit more as sneak auto critical shots do awesome amounts of damage!
