I don't usually do this, but I will highly recommend a film (as titled). I got this as one of those "£3" deals when you buy x dvds from Virgin or whoever they are called now.

Scared the crap outta me... am actually shaking even now. So horrible. So so horrible. No cheesy special effects. No jumpy bits. Just pure cinematography, followed by pure evil.

And I watch horror all the time, J-horror, etc etc. This reminds me of the first time I watched the original Omen.

/recommends.

The original Wicker man is fantastic - I heard they are making a Wickerman 2 with Christopher Lee - please dont be directed by the Wickerman remake!

You are right, I watched it again a few months back and it is truely disturbing at the end, very powerful film.

Original obviously, not Nic Cage.

The original stars Christopher Lee :p

You're thinking about Nicholas cage! NO, NOT THE BEES!!

Noo, I mean they are making an actual Wickerman 2 - and Christopher Lee will star in it. (Not the nick cage abomination!:p)

Oh!

I'll keep an eye out for that, it'll almost certainly not be as chilling as the original.

Yeah the original... didn't even know there was a remake.

Why are so many "70's style" films so scary... like the japanese Ringu without any special effects (apart from the obvious).

I hate cg :S

Just in case anyone doesn’t believe how awful the remake is......

:D:p
Oh cripes, I knew it would be bad, but not that bad. "Get off the bike!!"

And he was quite good in Adaptation, too.

Yes, the original was an excellent film - not so much the technical side, more that it's a great story, there's good acting from Mr Woodward and the whole film has this real 'earthy' quality that makes it all the more unsettling.

One of the few films that made me go out and buy the soundtrack, too - it's a cracker.

"And on that tree, there was a limb, and on that limb there was a branch..." Fantastic :)

Its just creepy as ****, the entire town is in on it... at first I thought it was a bit like Hot Fuzz (probably heavily influenced by it).

Just make me shudder... I have huge respect for films (especially, rare as they are, hollywood films) where it doesn't have a happy ending...

That remake looks seriously No swearing. Big Kev though :D NOT THE BEES!

EDIT : Sorry, forgot about which forums I was on ^^

the original was truely unique..

for one thing.. Christopher Lee, in a black long haired wig, and flowery dress = disturbing enough..

and the ending.. well, if you didn't know what was going to happen... would you have expected it?
