Anyone seen this yet, The Wild Robot?

I was on the fence for awhile, but after finally getting around to watching it, I think it was blooody awesome! The animation, story the lot just blew me away. Loving the sci-fi element to it as well, which really goes well with HDR and a damn good Ambilight TV!

Someone recommended it, trailer looks awesome, will be a rare movie purchase for me over Xmas.
It really was. everyone's acting like it was a failure because it didn't do disney box office numbers, or have the same tone as whatever garbage illumination is doing while they're not churning out hotel transylvania sequels - but it's an original story, directed by chris sanders who disney really shouldn't have let go, and made $320 million on an $80 million budget. That's not bad! I loved it personally. The visual style was stunning.

When I first saw the trailer it looked like they'd taken ideas from a lot of other films and mashed them together to create this. They had, but they did it very well. High quality production and a good warming story. It's easy to see links to concepts such as Big Hero 6, Zootopia and Wall-E but I'd consider this film a good blend of them. Dreamworks have certainly upped their quality over the last few years (excluding Illumination).

Spiritually I thought it was something of a successor to the Iron Giant, which i'm both shocked and dismayed to see you left out of that list steeps.
