Well, I believe the final 5th season is/has started on FX today.

Hopefully we'll see the whole 60 episodes soon on a terrestrial channel, so more people can watch this amazing show and see how script writing and characterisation really should be done.

Yes yes!

I keep thinking of creating a Wire thread on here, but never get round to it. In retrospect, I should really have made one last year, before they started showing season four, as that was probably the best series of anything ever shown on TV.

Such a fantastic show, and while I'm sad it's gone, I'm glad it got to finish its run, and that it went out with nothing approaching a bad episode. The best TV programme.

Come on then, favourite character? :D

Has to be Omar for me. One of my fav scenes is when he testifies in court in season 2. Judge: "You'll need to dress smart and wear a tie". Omar puts tie on over sports jacket. Ace.

Yep, none of this "there might be another season if we can milk it" nonsense. It's such a fantastic ride from start to finish. For anyone that hasn't seen it, go out and buy the season 1 boxset - don't think "will I like it?" - just buy it. I guarantee you will want to watch season 2, then season 3 etc....

Choosing a favourite character is tricky - they're all good in their own way, each with their own faults, humour and tics. Omar is great, but I'm going to say Bubbles.

Favourite character? Lester Freemon. Sure, Omar is cool as, and Bubbles gets the sympathy vote, but quiet Lester is as sharp as a tack.

Plus he has tweedy impertinence :D

Oh, and Brother Mouzone, of course. Seriously cool mutha'.

I'm not good on names, but I really like the boxing coach.

I've got 3 episodes left of 4 to watch, then it's on to season 5!

My bro introduced me to this programme, he lent me the box sets i was watching 2 episodes a night i enjoyed it so much. Watched the first episode of season 5 on fx last night, already looks promising for a good season.

I like all the corruption and politics in the show from the police on the beat all the way up to the police commissioner and mayors office. Also not many shows show both sides of the story as in betraying cops as good and bad guys and vice versa with the gangsters. I really like stringer bell, more of a business man than gangster. Favourite character tho is Bunk, they should do a spin off show on him and just call it Bunk :D

Yep, you'd need to star his catchphrase :D I would've picked him purely for that, but ultimately there are many strong characters.

Don't forget Claaaaaaaaaay Davis!

how do i say it?

:D, always cracks me up that, especially one episode where he carried it on for a good few mins lol. Even the girl he was talking to laughed a bit, i bet that was an accident but they kept it in.

I started watching this as i had seen it mentioned on here a couple of times in spec me a series threads. Wasn't expecting much and certainly didn't expect it to be anywhere near as good as Prison Break but was pleasantly surprised that its miles better than PB.

The OP hit the nail on the head about the characterization and script, i was really impressed by this. Every character is unique and has their own traits.

The only character i don't like is McNulty (sp?), i don't know why i just cant stand him. Fav character would have to be Avon Barksdale, closely followed by Omar.

Did anyone else think Snoop was a dude .

is this like watching 24 for the first time?

want to get another show under my belt, been eyeing up the wire and shield for a while..

which to choose?

Just get the Wire you wont regret it, really good show. I was hooked after the second episode and ended up watching 3 or 4 eps in a row as i wanted to see what happened next.
