The witcher - stuck!

OK, so i deceided to change game genre's, I'm an RTS guy with dabblings in FPS, and FPS has been boring me lately so i thought i'd try something new in the form of the witcher.

Must say i'm loving it, but i have a feeling that i have missed something along the lines, i've done all the tack in the castle, and now i'm on the outskirts of visihm (sp?) done everything i can (i think :S) and have rescued abigale (after doing her ofc ;)) and confront the mob, tell them all to get lost, and on our way back 'the beast' is in our way, i can't or the life of me defeat it!

I'm using tawny owl, blizzard, and the one that regenerates your vitality, along with other food effects, and have drawn from the circle of power. Oh, and my sward is coated in spectre oil, i just cannot kill it at all, any tips?

PS, Abigale dies almost instantly after the fight starts, and rarely gets a chance to heal me...
 
Yeah, I found it tough at first. I found just running out of the way when I got low on health helped. That Abigale dosn't actually die, she eventually gets back up and regenerates both your health.

One annoying thing of that part was the collision detection next to the ring of fire. I'd go no where near the flames while running around and somehow get set a light.
 
I used spectre oil on my sword, but then again..I let the villagers burn abigail at the stake, so when I went to fight the beast, all the main npcs from the village helped :) , made things rather more manageable
 
i did what tombstone did, i found the beast incredibly easy tbh :S just hit it in group attack to get rid of any surrounding hounds and then strength until it flopped.

then speared the priest as well.
 
It only takes about 3 hits from the beast to kill me, and one of those hits will almost always cause me to bleed, so i'm just stood there on the spot bleeding whilst all 7 barghests are attacking me.

Every time i try and stun it, it doesn't get knocked down, and i've upgraded my stun spell with my experience points too.

Abigale never seems to get back up for me :( even if i run around for 5 mins :(

PS: i'm doing the game on the hard setting, could this be the reason for the difficulty? (always select the hardest setting when playing games :D - untill i find it impossible and select the next difficulty level down)

Another try i guess :D
 
Yeah, the barghests can be a pain. I havent played the game yet and kept Abigail so I dont know if the villagers help you fight the beast if you keep her alive. But when I left Abigail to be burned at the stake the villagers helped to fight the Beast...which was handy because all the barghests fought the villagers and that just left me to fight the beast 1 on 1

Course, that all boils down to the individuals moral choice of whether Abigail is guilty or not :)

Thats probally why its ultra hard, I did it on normal diff. and got lucky with a stun and abigale healing me. Theres also a few other things you can try, with potions you can enhance them by using agents with extra properties. i.e if you where to make swallow potion instead of using the normal formula, use ingredients that also contain Rubedo as well and gain extra healing ( all the ingredients must contain the Rubedo as well for it to work).That also gose for Nigredo(extra damage) and Albedo(lower toxicity) each with a different added benifit. Theres a book some where that tells you all this.
