The Witcher

I personally think The Witcher is the best game I've played this year. I'm sure there will be others who disagree though.
Good combat and alchemy system, very nice graphics, great story and an rpg made for adults! :D

The only things wrong with Oblivion were the dire NPC interactions and the silly level-up system. The Witcher suffers from none of these problems!

It's good but not great.

The dialogue is absolutely risible - to the extent that it sometimes makes NO SENSE.

The quest system is muddled at times, and I finished chains without knowing what was going on or without doing anything, randomly.

The loading times are irritatingly long, even on decent computers.

That said, it's still a good game, the combat in particular is a lot of fun.

8.1/10!

I've heard the graphics are not as good as Oblivion though.

True, the graphics arent as good as Oblivions, but it largely depends on whether you want to play a game because it looks pretty like a picture book, or because it has an engrossing storyline and is a great game.

For me, as with the other person earlier in the thread, The Witcher has so far been my game of the year. (Bioshock, CoD4 and Crysis came close, but the story, world and oldschool-like RPG elements of Witcher does it for me :) )

And the Poor combat system, poor combat system and the poor combat system. (Oblivion)

The witcher is a great game i heartily recommend it, although it does get challening at times and is hard to differenciate between main quests that will let you trott along and side quests which just give you money. i still have quests from chapter 1.

I thought The Witcher combat was wierd at first but i'm really into it now. Its a lot more fun than the traditional button bash style. Some of the moves and finishing blows are damn cool too lol.

Ive been through a number of games and lost interest pretty fast. The witcher is one game that i can play for hours when i turn it on.

I prefer actually knowing a path to follow. Oblivion was too open ended and I just got bored too fast

Best single player game of the year for me. Fantastic story and acting, thought the graphics were much more realistic and grittier than Oblivion. Loved the music too.
