The World's Best Countries

It seems were let down by our " Political Environment " Coming in at 33. Comparing the UK to the other countries it seems that we could get into the top10 if we sorted the " Political Environment" out.

I'm not sure that we count as undistinguished. We're above quite a lot of other countries there.

It's an odd one, we get marked down really badly for political stability it seems. Have we had an armed revolution or something recently that I've missed?

Looking at the figures i don't like it very much for example:

Quality of life

USA : Rank 9
UK Rank 19

( All from their chart )

Income Equality - UK wins
Gender Equality - UK wins
Percent live on $1.99 - Draw
Consumption per Capita - USA wins by quite abit ( 33k - 22k )
Homicides per 100,000 - UK wins by 5 times less homicides then the USA
Environmental Health - UK Wins
Unemployment - UK wins.

So although we win by most of them it seems that being able to buy a bigger TV is more important.

Does seem strange the US scores more highly than the UK. Not only are US politicians mostly bought and paid for (it's practically a corporatocracy), but the highly polarised nature of their politics means they have trouble passing practically any useful legislation.

Thinking about, Northern Ireland probably doesn't do us a lot favours.

Italy is considered to have more political stability than the UK?

Both Italy and Israel score higher on overall political environment than the UK? Seems rather... odd.

The US is being regarded way too favourably. I would not be surprised if the authors were American. I definitely agree that NI is dragging the UK down the ranks.
