Do you also know that sikhs don't cut their hair, maybe just maybe the turban is there to keep their loooong hair in place.
Why...

Now your probably gona ask me,"why don't they cut their hair?" and I'm gona say "Don't ask me cos I don't know".

I was pointing it out cos turbans are designed for a different purpose then headpieces.
I don't know where you've got this fixation that I'm concentrating on their heads. The turban was an example because they have to wear it.

I'm going to assume that they can't cut their hair for "religious reasons", which is just as foolish (from the point of view of someone not of that particular religion) as having to wear a turban, carry a ceremonial dagger, go and talk to an invisible man every Sunday or believe that a book written 2000 years ago tells the actual and accurate story of the creation of the universe.

Doing something just because your religion demands it doesn't make it any more sensible.

Haha! :D

That's Tarot.

Taoism, according to Wikipedia:

Taoism is the English name referring to a variety of related Chinese philosophical and religious traditions and concepts. These traditions influenced East Asia for over two thousand years and some have spread internationally. [1] Taoist propriety and ethics emphasize the Three Jewels of the Tao; namely, love, moderation, humility. Taoist thought focuses on wu wei ("non-action"), spontaneity, humanism, and emptiness.

When you're at school you quickly learn that there are some kids you can laugh at and they'll either laugh back or get a bit upset but get over it later, and there are the slightly mental kids who who will resort to hitting you because you laughed at them.

Religious people are much the same, either they're secure in their beliefs, however misguided, or they're so insecure that they feel they have to resort to violence.

Actually the whole x religion hates y religion is very playground-esque too, maybe I'm onto something with this infant-school analogy :D

Children need to believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for comfort, believing in some form of God is much the same... Children the lot of you :p

Hehe not quite I think your thinking of Tarrot cards.

Taoism is based around the idea of Tao which is basically the interconectivity of all things in the universe. Practitioners try and follow a life of "wu-wei" or "non action", to live in harmony with the Tao. Being in harmony with the Tao allows you to have clarity and see the truth of things unjaded and as they really are.

It's quite difficult to explain but you can find lots on the internet about it.

I'm in no way die hard I just follow the teachings to some degree.

I thought some of those Taoist jokes were quite good.

How do you know that they do?

There's no evidence to support the existence of an all powerful being.

In fact, omnipotence and omniscience are mutually exclusive. Could a God that knows the future have the power to change it?

All the "facts" told in the Bible about how God created the Earth are... well, wrong. Science proves that. Even the age of the planet is off by several billion years. Hardly the greatest effort for the "word of God"...

*note i'm not 100% convicened thats theres a god, but i know nothing in grand scheme of the universe. Thus i cannot say things with an absolute. Anyhoo here we go :) :

Theres no evidence to support the non existence of an all powerful being.

How many times has science been wrong can you say for 100% that what sience says now is absolutely true?

Science never claims absolute truth. Science is always theories based on evidence.

mavity is just a theory, but the only way to disprove it is to find enough evidence to come up with a better theory. If you do, you'll probably become as famous as Newton.

You can't prove that the invisible pink unicorn or the Flying Spaghetti Monster don't exist, but that doesn't prove that they do.

Scientists say dark matter exists. They have to prove that. They can't just say "dark matter exists. If you think we're wrong, prove it"

Religion fills the gaps. Don't understand something? "God did it". Don't know why this happens? "Man was not meant to know"

Anyway, enough! We're on the subject of offensive jokes, not the Existence of God ;)

ok ... so my question stands, from a general viewpoint, and not taking faith into account, as faith wasnt really why i started this thread !!

whats more offensive?

a cartoon of a religous leader ...

or the needless near genocide of 7,000,000 people?

i am having a real problem that the holcaust took second place to a newspaper cartoon ....

Is this genocide joke that one that said it never happened? What was the protest like? If it was second place I take it it wasn't as large as the Muhammad cartoon. Doesn't that show the Jews not caring as much if it was a smaller protest?

like i said i agree with you, but i love playing devil's advocate :D .

As you said

Religion fills the gaps. Don't understand something? "God did it". Don't know why this happens? "Man was not meant to know",

How does god do it? What is the lanuage that god used to create it all? it could be very well that science is what god used to create the universe. It would be logical for a superbeing to create a universe not with magic but with logic.

But as you say this topic is about offensive jokes not existence of god......although i find it a better topic anyway ermmm offensive jokes are baaaaadd you hear me BAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDD!!!!!! :D

i dont believe what that pakistan paper did was right and a lot of muslims would say the same but the danish paper decided to insult all muslims for the action of a few....

And in the same vein, the Pakistani magazine insulted all Christians. Get off your high horse.

but by far and away the most offensive joke was the cartoon of the prophet Mohammed

When the whole hooha about the cartoons was big news I was looking at the cartoons on my PC at work to see what the fuss was about. Someone actually reported me to my boss for looking at them because it offended them. :(

righttttt your logic is brilliant

I'm not not on any high horse, i am stating both were wrong. It seems though you are saying that the danish paper were right.

The problem is you think two wrongs make a right. So a Very a small group of muslims take the **** out of christians so its ok too strike back by taking the **** out of all of islam..............hmmmm outstanding logic there mate. Next time a white guy calls me a **** i can start mouthing of everywhere by hurling abuse to all white folk i see...........well according to you i can, i mean one white guy started it, if you can't take it dont dish it.

It seems to me your a very angry person for some reason

No swearing

Thing is, if I am allowed to make jokes about my friends being vegetarians, short, "emo", etc, why is mocking their religion so much worse?

Answer: it isn't.

Obviously if it is meant to cause harm then there is a potential issue, although "sticks and stones.."

However, in jest, people need to stop taking things so seriously and learn that not everyone is so serious.

tbh i feel the same way, if in jest its fine. Me and my friends rip on each other on anything race/religion/ect/ect.

In fact its quite hard to get me angry.

Though having said that it really gets on my nerves when people just insult anyone else for no reason other then to hurt.
