The worst bit...

8 of us decided to go on holiday a month or so back, next day all of us drew the 350 out that it cost and met in a pub to give it to the person who was going to pay for it... was pretty funny having nearly 3k sitting on a pub table... especially when the cops walked in :o

I got a £359 cheque last week, christmas present :) , and I had visions of ripping it or it blowing away... I'd rather have it all in cash so if you accidently rip some you don't lose it all :D

But if the cheque rips or blows away you can canncel it and get a new one. Cannot do that with cash

I collected £10k in payments from Western Union about a month back.

Felt great but I had to give it all away :p felt a bit insecure carrying it around (seeing as I had to go to 5 seperate western union branches)

During my work experience a few months ago, at the end of each day I held close to £50,000 in 5s, 10s, 20s and 50s. :)

Pwnt?

edit: I balanced the tills at HSBC.

Someone at school had £200 on them, and another guy (sits next to me in business) had about £300+ (from what I could see); another guy showed me £800 in cash he had. Lots of people carry a lot of cash with them.

I agree that seeing the money go is the worst bit. I am already budgeting for my new computer and it is months until I get it, and I can, even now, barely stand the thought that £2000+ is going to go, but then I can think that I have a computer that will last (hopefully) for a while.

If it rips it's still legal tender as long as it's all there, just selotape it together.

Yeah, I remember a news story where some children found a few bags full of ripped up £20 notes. They were allowed to complete the large "jigsaw-like" puzzle and reclaim all the money. If I remember correctly one only needs the number on the note to claim the money back.

I once had £10m in £2 coins. In a big vault. And I used to swim in it. And I had 3 grandnephews called Huey, Dewey and Louie and they used to come round, and sometimes they would try and swim in it too.

No wait, that wasn't me, that was Scrooge McDuck :( .

I once had £10k in cash in my pocket :) . Was going to buy a new car and took the cash out of the bank at lunchtime. Was a bit scary keeping it in my desk at work in the afternoon though, as you never know what might have happened to it!

Went to the garage and pointed out the one I wanted. Should have seen the look on the salesman's face after all his "finance scheme this and finance scheme that " and I handed him the envelope with cash in it. Even better cause I was just a youngster at the time :D

blows away :(
reminds me when i was about 16 walking out of a shop with a hand full of 1£ notes and dropping one, wind took it up ,down the road and over the roof of a terrace ....all seemed in slow motion that note must have taken 30 secs or more to disappear from sight.
Gone But Not Forgotten.

All i will say is i repair ATM machines when you lot break em, cash has no meaning to me anymore :(

I know exactly what you mean. I work in a Treasury for a major financial company, and to me a couple of billion is just a number on a screen and moving it round the world is just a couple of mouse clicks.....

In the company I used to work for someone once "lost" 15million USD dollars (it ended up in the wrong bank account basically.) It was such a small amount it was written off as a rounding error until someone worked out where it was a couple of months later.

If you feel like losing a couple of million one day I can provide you with a secure bank account.

I promise that the money will still be there when you feel like finding it again. ;)

I used to work in a Bureau de Change, we would regularly take over £100,000 when the French Market came to town.

We would get so busy I wouldn't have time to tidy the money and would literally have to just throw it on the floor and sort it all out after the shift had finished.

Hmm most I've had was £4,800 in £20 notes (bank didn't have any £50s!) as a 2 month deposit + 1 months rent for our house :p Was fun carrying that up the road to the landlady's bank!
