So here we are again boys, who of you are still on O2 with their 500mins / 500 txts, or 750 mins / 750 texts, and are planning the dreaded call to retentions in the next month.

Im still on:

500 mins (inc rollover)
500 texts (+ 400texts on top)

£25 pm it's cost me, and that's with the O2 insurance for the year too. I checked my usage for the first time last month, and had no idea i had rollover mins, or an extra 400 texts, as last year they agreed on the phone with me that i had no rollover and 500 texts only. DAMN THEM !!!!

If you ring up try retentions direct and ask for your PAC code. They will come back to you asking why you are leaving, then quote the best deal you can find (or make one up !!!!!). Have a look for great cashback deals and be firm but not rude to them. If you fail then try again in a few days time.

POST YOUR RESULTS :D

Just called them with regards to an upgrade, as my 12 month contract just expired (got a k800i 200mins and 400 texts a month, was paying £30 a month)

No new phones out there I really want, the N95 is on available free on 18 month £35 a mont contracts, new sony isnt out till oct, and the Iphone now looks like it will be Q1 of 2008.

In the end I decided to go ona month by month deal, £20 a month for 500mins and 1000 texts, pretty good deal I thought.

I am failing this year, trying to hold onto 12 month 400 rollover min (non geo) + 1000text for £30 + phone of my choice for free, but they are refusing to carry on my contract this time.

Ill update this post with any new results i get.

Offer so far:

12month
500/500 mins/text + non georaphical calls
0 GPRS
E65 for free
£35
(what a load of **** they are offering this year!!!)

Im gona call them again tonight, ill be on first name basis soon :p

Ye it seems they are a bit stingy this year.

Another thing this year is that they seem to HATE giving you a good contract price AND a new phone. If you don't get a new phone they should give you £100 credit, and knock down the line rental a bit. Or just sell the phone they give you on ebay and that will effectively reduce your line rental.

il be trying next week once ive researched the other deals a lot and have a good bartering technique.

As this is an O2 thread remember to make sure you get Long Weekends :) And try and get whatever deal you get offered on 12 months instead of 18.

Was on 500mins/500texts for £20/month last year, after a few calls this time around i was offered the same again for another 12 months with a free k800i. Result!

Hey, well played for another year running, that's 3 years now for you?

Did you use the majority of your minutes and texts last time, and did you ring retentionsdirect and ask for PAC then quote a better deal ?

I'm tempted not to renew my o2 contract as the signal at my home is rublish but is great at work... do you think I can get some of the monthly bill if I explain that to them? I only went on o2 to get the N80 as other networks was not supplying the on at the time. I should have stayed on orange.

Weired thing is the network cover used to be perfect when it was cellnet in the 90s so I was shocked to fine out how poor it it. but it may be on Martin Dawes network and not call connections that I was on previously.

Yeh ive been lucky the last few years. I was away from March until August this year so only sent texts during that period. I told them to look at january and february to see my average usage which was around 400-500 mins and the same for texts.

I rang retentions direct quoting some cashback deals like i have done before, and the 2nd guy i spoke to kept me on the tarriff.

Unfortunately i doubt that is a valid reason in their eyes for you to get refunded some of your line rental. Worth a try though!
