I've always been interested in how it all exists, more to the point how it came into existence and why.

personally I dont think there is a why, it just is. I've seen some theories and all look kind of plausable but all are just guesses which leads me onto the question

what is your take on it?

I found 1 guys theory - there is no space on it quite interesting and it answers a lot of questions

There's the string theory too Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6

Also look at "stephen hawkings universe ep1 to ep6 (each episode comes in parts)

some enjoyable viewing :D

We may never know for sure, but we will continue to try and find out. Perhaps that's the beauty of it all and the nature of our exploratory instinct.

I'm pretty sure the 'String Theory' has been proven wrong, i just belive that time does not exist and this is just what 'IT' is, no start no end.

There cant be a definitive answer, thats whats so beautiful about the universe imo. We dont know how big it is, how it was made or anything. Will we ever know?

Humans always require something to have been "created".

We have a hard job comprehending something that is just there, and always has been, so we make up grand stories about someone/thing having created all we see.

Or there might be one infinite universe. The problem is, due to the way we think, it's incredibly hard to imagine it. We tend to think that our universe must be formed of certain constraints; that it can only be so big and have existed for so long. Without the ability to comprehend infinity, we continue searching for the next frontier, which is great I think.

Basically as Pinter75 said, as I was posting it seems :)

I dont know about string theory being proven wrong... I just dont think its right. doesnt make sense to me.

the billiard theory as lightly covered as it is is possible lol

me personally I agree that there is no "emptyness". if there was, how can 2 parts of the same electron move symetrically if there is nothing inbetween to pass the information. there has to be something much like a tightly pulled rope in game of tug and war. (1 side pulls, the other is pulled and vice versa).

I look forward to CERT's discovery of sub atomic particles, sparticles (spartaaaa!), although Im kinda worried that if the creation of the universe started from something so small that they make another big bang from earth lol.

another question on my mind is, if space is infinite and our universe is forever expanding, does that mean we will eventually be too far away from anything else? (if to say our sun didnt die). and if that was the case could that be the outcome of universes before us? as the centre will surely expand and expand and eventually be nothing.

and if that is the what is it that creates the universe? I was looking at a video on you tube earlier of arthur young explaining the universe with mass, light and time which was interesting too (on youtube also)

Also if you sit there trying to work out why, how, who and when - you will probably go mad.

Our teeny tiny brains will never suss it out, and I do think that life on this planet is probably a huge fluke.

Put it this way, if our planet was 2 degrees closer to the sun, we would all fry. 2 degrees the other way and we would all freeze. So we are perfectly balanced in the grand scheme of things.

Also the Earth's rotation is slowing down (this year we have a leap year - cos of this), and the moon is getting closer 4 cm each year. Somehow I don't think we were meant to be...

Not to mention when the sun runs outta gas...

Still with the infinate amount of other stuff out there, there are probably loads of similar "flukes"

You answered your own question there; it's only supposedly expanding.

And if it is expanding, what is it expanding into? Infinite nothingness.

many universes > our universe > many galaxies > our galaxy > our solar system

space = nothingness/the blackness/unoccupied territory.

there is supposedly more than 100 billion trillion stars if that helps - although that was an estimate itself.

and to someone that said we as humans believe everything must be created - we believe this because this is how logic works, everything has a beginning but may not have an end, it is the creation of these that has intrigued/plagued us. for example the creation of sub atomic particles is created by charged helium particles colliding with other particles (look up c.e.r.n) this is how particles came into the existance. also cern will look to see if a particle called the "gravitron" exists (no its not from the tron movie) for parallel universes. Personally I dont believe in parallel universes, I just think that those are choices and if NOT chosen then it doesnt exist, much like the big bang. if it never happened there would be nothing so how would you get a parallel universe from that?. but then Im not a scientist.
