Theories of the universe

Shame next year cosmology option is being taken out of the A-level syllabus (along with nuclear and particle physics) :(
Personally, I think it utterly ridiculous that A-Level students get modules (?) labeled "particle physics" or "cosmology". They are fed information so watered down it no longer becomes meaningful! Sure, it sounds mighty impressive to have words like "quark" and "supernova" on the syllabus, but it's considerably less impressive when you consider the same syllabus doesn't provide the students with a means of describing the dynamics of a ball rolling down a hill.

If time "started" what came before?

And if there no time how can something happen?

Does it all happen at once, or not at all?

Does time slow things down and space them out, or speed things up and let them move?

Fun, fun, fun!

Just more confusion :p, imo I have came to the conclusion, we will proberbly never know :p

A *lot* more mechanics needs to be taught.
Very true. Sadly, those in charge are far more intent in dumbing down syllabi and filling them full of fancy words than they are giving people a good grounding in physics.

I'd far rather see the pass rate in physics fall, and have it full of meaningful material. This obviously goes against the political view of how education should work though.

tis true... though the IB may be more accommodating.
But this seems to be across the board, A levels are not what they used to be. Seems to me they are like a peacocks rear end. Nice to look at, but undeniably full of ****. They are used (rightly or wrongly) more as a marketing ploy to get student into uni where the real learning occurs, rather than a stand alone qualification.

I resent your sig w11tho :p
