I borrowed a book and some cd's from my friend to practice for my theory test. But the book says valid for theory tests from 2000, so it's 6-7 years old, will this book and discs still be ok to use for my theory test or will they be out of date?

I'd buy up-to-date ones but i'm skint right now :p .

do the online practice ones (dvla site somewhere i think)
the discs i had were slightly different from the actual exam.

Your better off doing the online mock exams tbh mate, they use up to date questions and it gives you a better idea of what the actual test will be like. I used a CD ROM by Focus called theory test success, its been a great help but tbh its not worth spending £8 on it. The theory mock exam was almost exactly like the real thing, in fact it was harder on the CD-ROM. I took the test last Wednesday and the question part took less than 5 mins lol.

If the Cd's you have have hazard perception practice sessions on them they don't need to be up to date. If you don't have any hazard perception practice i think you could struggle on the test.

Try this site, has loads of theory questions.

Got to agree with this, especially the "If someone is injured" ones etc. The road signs are a lot of the time self explanatory and with multiple choice easy enough. Theres just one or two that you wouldn't know unless you look at the highway code.

Ahh thats the one i was talking about, it has all the theory questions that they use in its question bank and also has 40 odd hazard perception videos for you to practice. If you buy it through that site that i posted further up 2pass you can get it for a discount price, think its £7-£8 with free delivery. It probably is worth it if it saves you from having to take the test again, i used it and found the test really easy whereas my mate failed and has to re-book it.

Sounds like you wont need to buy that disc then, the online questions are what i got in the test so should be fine.

Good luck with the test :) .

Seconded. I did mine last week and got 34/35 and 55 on perception. All I did in way of preparation was read the highway code and watch the DVD they send you. DVD was a waste of time, they play you the same footage in the introduction on the day anyway.

LOL, yeah that DVD they send you is really annoying, the guy talks like he's talking to a 3 year old. I got 34/35 although i knew every answer so i must have clicked one wrong by accident, i got to the end in 5 mins and couldn't be bothered to check them. I got 54 on the hazard perception.
