There aint no replacement for displacement

I have nothing to add to this other than WOW at that noise !!

its awesome isnt it ?

Definately going to be my replacement for the vec in a few years time i think. Servicing is even cheaper than my Vectra !

insurance will be about the same as the Vec is already Group 18. So its just the astronomic fuel consumption i'll have to live with

but i think i'll survive with that exhaust note :D

VXR8 is my planned next car also, havent driven one yet but will be doing so at the VXR trackday in June. A number of years away from getting it and things change but thats my current plan also !

Good to hear servicing isnt too bad

I have to say, i drove the VXR8 at a track day, and was totally underwhelmed by it. They sound muted, and it felt dull to drive.
I preferred the corsa over the whole VXR range for its fun factor and total chuckability.

that isnt a VXR8

its a Wortec Carbon edition wth the VXR8 as a base car. That much is changed, it becomes a completely different car. Its like driving a standard mustang GT and saying gibbos saleen must be equally as boring to drive ;)

The wortec has : supercharger + exhaust + induction kit + springs + fully adjustable suspension + short shifter kit + exhaust headers + 20 " walkinshaw rims

Im not on about buying a standard edition. The carbon has about 630bhp. If you fancy uprating the internals, 700 + bhp is easy. Not so sure you'd be underwhelmed by that ;)

Regarding the OP video...am I the only one who was a little disappointed? Whilst it sounded awesome, when he stepped on the throttle and there was a noise like the Earth had just split in half, the performance didn't really seem to match....I was expecting it to accelerate like a bullet, but it's bark seems to be a lot worse than it's bite...

Seems that way to me too, must just be the video though surely, I mean a blown V8 has to be fast, right..

Those VXR8 sound awesome:D Talking of V8s, I'm trying to get my dad to get his exhaust changed, its far too quiet for what it is.

Does something like an M5 not interest you?

yes

but the servicing costs make baby jesus cry

Look at the servicing costs of the VXR8 at a specialist

http://www.monkfishperformance.co.uk/VXR8servicing.html

E60 M5 is going to 3 times that to service if not more. And then theres the parts etc..

The VXR8 is thrown together from the GM parts bin including a big old v8. Nothing fancy or expensive about it.

If the M5 didnt have supercar running costs id consider it. But the only running cost to worry about with the VXR8 is the petrol.

Indeed, the M5 (more so, its gearbox) is a car i'd be rather scared of, and i am fairly seasoned to mega mercedes V8 bills. AFAIK there is a warranty that can be extended for only a grand a year though.

warranty isnt the problem

its the £280 they want just for an oil service :(

thats the same price (give or take £10) as the major 50,000 mile service on the VXR8 :(

Think that service (inspection 3 would it be ?) is over a grand on an E60 m5

Different kettle of fish though mate, 2 extra cylinders, a huge redline, massive power, and at fixed prices if you COULD get a warranty then i would say it'd be worth every penny extra :)
