There are 100s of bands as 'good' as Oasis

Lily Allen aint a band, and I'd rather be subjected to that than any recent Radiohead ;)

There was a track played on Colin Murray's show last night. Would have been around 10:15/10:30pm. It was Radiohead, and it was just noise. And I mean, just noise. Literally.

Idioteque by the looks of it. Fantastic song. It's certainly not white noise if that's what you're getting at. It is noise yes, but so is all music :p

Have you heard In Rainbows by the way?

It isn't white noise, no. It is just lots of random noises thrown together. I wouldn't have classed it music and I didn't know who it was until the end of the track.

I was flabbergasted that such a good band had fallen so far. Just shows what a near break-up and personal breakdown can do to a band.

I've just subjected myself to Idioteque. That isn't what it was. It was banging and crashing and horns and synth and a whole host of other noises. There was a beat, but that was the only recognisable 'music' input.

Idioteque is better than the track I heard last night.

[edit]mks, I got bored halfway through and turned it off and went back to trance on last.fm.

Well http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/colinmurray/

Thursday's tracklisting says Idioteque...

Does that do anything for you Gilly? :)

Surely you can see the beauty in that... and it's not too noisey so don't worry!

You'll go to hell for what your dirty mind is thinking!

Didn't realise they filmed the 93 Feet East performance...cool :)

It'll be The National Anthem then. Which rules. Sorry. :)

Rings a bell actually. If true, it is the worst song I've heard in a good 10 years. Including that one by Adele that so infuriated me I started a thread on it.

[edit]Yeah that sounds like it. What rubbish.

One of the best Radiohead songs then :p

Awesome :D That's quite an accolade.

It is pretty amazing how opinions can differ. (Genuine comment, not trying to sound like an arse)

Then you know nothing :D

They released a single that should be in every single top 3 dance tunes ever.
I'm guessing 'no good' at a stab. I think the first album was the best, and mftjg a close second :)

I had a period of enjoying Radiohead. I literally forced myself to enjoy Kid A (the album which that song is from). I sat through it again and again, not really enjoying it at all. One day I decided that I did actually like segments of it. The music requires work and effort to enjoy but can be very rewarding.

However I recently had the realisation that a lot of later Radiohead is in fact total rubbish. It astounds me how I actually used to listen to Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief. Both have there moments (Like Spinning Plates for example) but are mainly filled with dross. Its so painfully unmelodic, but then again its not supposed to me.

Two of the major offenders are 'We Suck Young Blood' and 'Pulk/Pull Opening Doors'. Oh my, both are so woeful it outstands me that anyone can appreciate them.

I guess I have grown up to the realisation I enjoy melody heavy music which is easily accessible. Still, I think OK Computer is a fine, fine album and I think even later radiohead can be very powerful (How to dissapear completely). For the record, I actually enjoy the song the national anthem (but the title track, Kid A, is painful).

I think it's pretty much universally accepted that Hail to the Thief is a pretty sub-par Radiohead album. Doesn't stop Kid A being one of the greatest albums of all time. Amnesiac is bloody fantastic too. The one album I've never really gotten into is OK Computer tbh, got some great tunes, but some bad ones too. Thing is, even Hail to the Thief is only rated badly because it's relative to the other Radiohead albums...it's still better than a hell of a lot of music released recently and around its time. Oh and In Rainbows is absolutely stunning too.

Pulk/Pull is a bit of a joke track really I don't take it seriously at all. ;)

HTTT is a bit rubbish in places agreed. Lacks coherence and some of the songs just dont sound that great. The band themselves were disappointed with it to some extent as the recording was really rushed. Amnesiac has weak moments but is still generally quite awesome.

Have you heard In Rainbows btw Nitefly?
