There are "Internet linguists"? WHAT?

I had to check, apparently I rarely finish a text message with a full stop. Often question or exclamation marks. But I certainly don't notice when others do to do not use them.

I imagine there some good arguements coming from misunderstandings when one person thinks the other is being a ****head.

I agree, though. If my partner or a friend ends their message with a full stop I assume they're annoyed/making their statement more definite etc.

Whereas I would assume that they give a damn about the language they're using. I'm certainly not going to assume someone is annoyed because they make even a rough attempt at basic English rather than not caring even that much.

Oh no! Jesus H. Christ, have I got to apologise to everyone that I’ve sent a WhatsApp to since I first used WhatsApp?
Surely my kids, and grandkids will know that pedant dad, granddad, and Opa loves them dearly, and it’s just his way.
Can’t say the same about my in-laws, I’m constantly reminding them that it’s not to many, it’s too many, it’s should have, not should have, and the latest doozy that two of them have used, “this is a photo of are garden”, or, “did we leave are umbrellas”, aaaarghhh!!

Our organisation has completely banned full stops in short msgs, thanks to our "Online Safe Spaces & Digital Safeguarding Policy".

I had to check my messages to see what I did and it seems I don't use a full stop in single line messages, though on looking through some of my friends do.

So basically, I don't care enough to even notice.

Its 2019. If you are upset by punctuation in a text message then i genuinely feel pity for you.
When you are old, maybe in in 30 or 40 years time, you are going to be in such rage at how the kids are behaving, its probably going to kill you.
Stop caring about rubbish.

I just checked my text messages and it seems all i use is a question mark, if appropriate.

I don't think any of us are tho. Somebody somewhere apparently said they thought periods were aggressive in text messages. I'm fairly sure I don't use them in single-line messages anyway. Can't be arsed to check.

Would I stop doing it even if I did? Nah, whoever that person was they need to find something more significant to feel threatened by.
