Hmmmm - Not sure about it. 5 point gaps over the first 4 places?
 
imo they need to increase the points gap so racers dont settle for position because 'its only 1 point and is not worth the risk'.

increase it more i say!
 
The only way of judging this is to apply it to the results of the last few (say 10) years and I really haven't got the time or patience during the working week . . .
 
Considering that 2 of the last 3 seasons have gone to the final race, both of which ended with a 1 point different, I dont think there is any issue with the current system

The problem F1 has is its difficult to overtake. Rather than properly sort the situation by making the cars much easier to follow, the FIA are trying to gloss over it by making it more rewarding for a river to overtake. It wont improve the show, it will just mean championships get decided a lot earlier.

Without even bothering to work it out im sure that Jenson would have had the title wrapped by in the summer under this points mechanism.
 
Just seen this on autosport, interesting and allows points further down the field, think it would be a good move but quite a radical change from the 10 for a win!

Whats the points system in MotoGP? Dont they start at 25?

MotoGp/BSB/WSBK and most, if not all Motocycle racing, use this system and it seems to work really well. main difference is the increased grids with upto 40 riders.
