Thermal Pad (Thing)

Anybody have one of these?

My CPU always used to run very warm even though it was cooled by a very good Zalman heatsink/fan.

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the adhesive compound used wasn't very good (generic crap). Is it worth spending a couple of pints worth of money on some good stuff? I was also thinking of getting some Zalman stuff which looks like a bottle of nail varnish (silver).

Those pads arent really used for CPU's, their mainly used to fix RAM sinks on graphics cards. You want to look at something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=AC-000-AC

Yeh, that "nail varnish" solution also has pretty good reviews. But expect to only see 1 or 2c drop in temperatures, unless you seated the heatsink wrong first time round.
