Thermal Paste Application

ive seen some coolers that require you to apply a small amount to then base aswell as a small amount to the CPU because of heatpipe grooves etc,

I always tend to use an old credit card to spread it easier

This. I just installed a Hyper 212 plus and filled the grooves with a little MX-4, flattened with a card and then three lines down the aluminium bits between the heatpipes - this has given me the best temps.

I used just the "pea" method at first, but needed to remove the heatsink to access some components - what I saw was that it hadn't spread very far at all.
