Thermal Paste on CPU

For me personally yes because if I brought it new it wouldn't come with old paste plastered over it. It isn't difficult to remove but then there really isn't much reason for the seller not to do it to start with then.

depends whether we are talking about a £10 core2duo or a £500 Xeon? :)

The majority of used processors I have bought are not 100% spotless, but have at least been given a quick wipe over. I wouldn't expect them to turn up covered in thermal paste.

No takes all of 10 seconds to clear it off. I'd make sure it's the correct chip you've bought though once cleaned.

It would bother me as far as it's inconsiderate. However, cleaning it is easy enough that I wouldn't really care.

Depends on how much paste the seller left on.

If it's completely covered I would be worried the seller didn't have a scooby and what the hell has he done to this chip!

It wouldn't bother me at all, unless of course they've managed to coat the entire thing with it like some wrapped present :p

It would bother me as it leads me to believe the seller is a lazy can't be bothered type. Personally I would have cleaned it off with some cloth and then IPA as that is how I would want to recieve it myself.

I bought a second hand GPU and the guy had posted in original box wrapped in brown paper but the paper didn't cover all the box. It just struck me as really lazy and lacking respect, but I wouldn't say it bothered me.

Wipe off the paste and take comfort in knowing you are a better class of Geek.
