thermal paste

After browsing the forum for 20 mins TAT reports
core 1 at 42deg
core 2 at 45deg

When given full load they jump pretty damn quick to 58 and 54deg
Same with the case side off. This is all with the CPU back to stock speed too.

Although the temps aren't dangerous, I can't really attempt an OC
Could be bad mount, although I followed the instructions on arctic silver's site exactly. I have found the HS to not clamp down than tightly and has some wiggle in it but it clips in place so that's as tight as it goes I guess.

My case is a Thermaltake Soprano with 2x 120mm fans and a side fan. However I'm wondering if I need to sort out the wires in front of the CPU fan.

What's to be done? I will try a re-seat but don't see what I can do differently

I used the surgucal spirit, took a while because as you say w3bbo, it looks clean but when you rub another cotton bud on it, stuff still comes off.
Temps are if anything worse than before so I'm wondering how long you need to leave AC5 before temps improve? I'm just about to leave it to cool overnight. Will there be an iimprovement when I boot up 2morrow?

No, there will not be an improvement. After seating and reseating god knows how many cpus/heatsinks with AS5, I can tell you there will be no difference tomorrow. MAYBE, but just MAYBE will you see a really small drop after some time, but again, not really noticeable at all.

Why did you use AS5 for so long if theres no difference?

It's still working nicely, I'm just saying it won't really improve over time. And I've been using one small tube for a year now ;) . Naked cores are so gentle on the tube :)
