Thermal Paste

Just ordered the NOCTUA NH-D14.

Is there any difference in thermal compounds?

I have Artic Silver 5
I know you get one supplied with the kit but will I see ANY difference in temps using either or are thay about the same?

Also mine is about 4 years old? there isn't a shelf life on this stuff is there?

the NH-D14 comes with a tube of its own, which is as good if not better than AS-5

ic diamond is the best or mx-4
makes 3-4c difference over as5 on idle and more on load

Having used both AS5 and MX4 on the same rig, I have noticed zero difference.

cant remember the name of it but its supposed to be one of the best

i use ic diamond and makes about 4oC difference on idle. Never checked under load compared to stock thermal paste though

hi sorry asking a question on here. does thermal paste come with the antec 620 cpu water cooler or will i need to buy some?

It comes with some pre-applied, good one at that so don't buy other tubes.

2c difference under load for me, though that 2c enabled me to run a q6600 at 3.6Ghz under 70c at full load.

As already stated ic diamond is best 3c difference over Artic Silver 5 on my 1090t

well I fitted it all in and early days yet but idle temps are looking good.
on 30°c idle on 2 cores and 40°c on the other 2 cores?

is it ok to start stress testing or do I need it to settle in first?

what are you using to monitor temps?
core temp and/or real temp are excellent

Running Prime 95

48°c max temp on the hottest cores which is core 0 & 2
only been running for one hour but well impressed with the NH-D14

Fan is only running at 1298rpms not sure how fast it should be?
Can't hear it anyhoo!!

its a beast isn't it.

dropped my temps loads as well when i got it.
also you can use the u.l.n.a cables, the fans will then run at 800rpm iirc and be even quieter.

I'm happy with the sound tbh all fans from the 650d overpower it anyway.
