I'm sure a lot of you know about this upcoming heatsink and I'm also sure a few of you don't. Just saw the updated photo that now includes the 'backside' heatsink, looks interesting!

...What's the backside heatsink for...cooling the other side of the motherboard?!?It doesn't get THAT hot on c2d boards does it?

That second heatsink looked like a chipset on where the heatisnk sits in the middle of the cpu heatssnk at first!
Certainly looks flexible.

Look forward to seeing how it performs.

Feature
 • Larger surface area than any other heatsinks (140mm x 120mm) with option to install one or even two 140mm fans
 • Designed for better air flow management to work with the heatsink fans* and the air inside your computer case
 • Four large 8mm heatpipes to distribute massive amount of heat fast and efficiently
 • Optional to rotate the heatsink 90 degrees to best fit your system configuration
 • Multi-platform compatible backplate for installation on vast number and type of motherboard. No need for complicated tools to convert
 • Includes a back-side dual heatpipe heatsink (patent pending), which not only additionally cools your CPU but also takes care of the heat coming from the back of the motherboard to extend the life expectancy and stability of your motherboard

Less heatpipes but much thicker ones, which gives it a larger surface area that pretty much all heatsink out there. Gave up waiting for this bad boy and bought the Ultra 120 instead.

The Thermaltake fan seems to be interesting as well:

Tis the season for new heatsink releases it seems:

Arctic cooling freezer Xtreme.

And theres a new zalman fan controller on its way:

My advice: Wait a bit and see what happens. We've got new heatsinks from Thermalright and arctic cooling shown here, theres bound to be one from Scythe in the works too and possibly even a tuniq successor from Sunbeam. Theres probably going to be some Zalman ones too, and there's that big Coolermaster gemini.

Wait until they're all released, reviewed and available and then we'll see what's what.

Edit: Heres a working link to the IFX-14 product page.

Its was already linked in first post :)
Beg your pardon, i didn't spot that. Just noticed someone else had tried to link to it and it wasn't the right link.

I assume that secondary heatsink won't be an optional part, in which case its going to bump the price up somewhat?

You guys are slow :D :D :D
Nope, just I bothered to make a thread about it. No one gets a medal here for being the first to post on a piece of hardware, but it helps if you can be bothered to make an actual thread and enclose pics etc ;)
