I have 4 year old Artic Silver 5 or the stuff that came with the cooler, what would you guys recommend?

What TIM did you use?
the Noctua paste is excellent.
also i would do a remount, have a look at the old paste mark on the cpu, was it covered properly? if not, that might explain your temps.
and are the fans blowing in the right direction? (i know, but have to ask)

I used the Noctua TIM, I also cleaned the CPU with alcohol and tissue.

Does it take hours to set in?
