Thermaltake Mozart TX

Why?

Why!!!

Cos it's got potential that's why. Cos it's just screeming to have the twangers modded off it.

Oh don't get me wrong i agree think that in it's stck form it looks a little like a high tech porta-loo but it really does have some space and room to play.

Thinking more high end than car boot this time.

Seen the one on the bay, but it's miles from where I am.

It will take some serious modding to stop it looking like a bread/pedal bin but looking t your other builds mate - I'm sure it'll look fine ;)

Cheers W3bbo.

I think i'll have to spend a good amount of time just looking it over. I don't know about you, but the inspiration and planning stage of a mod can take just as long as the mod itself, and even then inspiration hits you as you progress and things change.

I also currently have another couple of old cases in the garage that I go and stare at for a while every now and again assuming that at somepoint inspiration will hit me. Although if I buy a Mozart it's quite likely that mrs Dubs will hit me.

I'm just winding up the Liquid Skeleton project at present but know I'll want to get my teeth into something else soon.

Why not try and get one of those massive server cases? They are prime for modding

i've got my eyes open for one of those also, problem is I don't know any brand names which makes searching hard. there's plenty of new ones around but they cost the best part of a Kidney.

I did see one on the modding threads that looks rather nice. basically I just want something HUGE to play with.

Yeah that's the one. I fancy a bit of a challenge and have always enjoyed modding marginal cases e.g. the stuff i've done with the Skeleton.

I don't quite know what I plan to do with it, but I promise you it won't look anything like it's normal appearance when i'm done with it.

Just a shame I can't find one close to home, as posting something that's the same size as postman Pat's van is not really an option.

I think it has massive potential, but that's mainly due to the size.

Just because it isnt pre drilled to fit big RADs doesn't mean that it cant be made to fit em.

Just think of it as a blank canvas with some bits already taken care off, i for one haven't got a full workshop to make a case.

Great minds think alike. I'm thinking big Water, perhaps even something custom in the way of the actual plumbing. Perhaps even something Steampunk who knows. As I said before a good deal of the time modding is spent thinking what to do to make it special.

It's about the size of a small child.

That's a bit concerning, did you look for that image to give scale or did it just happen to pop up when you searched?

Try to mod a mini fridge into it or something

I like the cut of your gib sir.
Actually just thought a fridge built in is a real possibility as a quirky idea, but instantly thought about using it as part of the cooling loop

Mmmmmm.....ideas....

Dont think a fridge is a good idea to be honest,
I have a mini fridge (carlsberg one that holds 42 cans) and although it keeps my beers frosty, the top and back of it gets pretty hot,

not something id have thought would be good in a case,

Project Hovis! There. The name is sorted already.

so the fridge section keeps the beers and the loop cool, whilst the back end of the heat exchanger bakes the bread in another section of the case

love the name. might even go with it

Well scoff you may but i have just become the proud owner of one of these cases. Went for the one off the bay in the end.

Can't wait to get to grips with it.

Please note I shall keep a record of all the derisive remarks I have recived in this thread for future referrence. you know who you are!!!

Are you going to drive up to Lancs to go get it or did you throw a few extra notes for delivery?

Going to be heading up to Lancs which is a very long way from where I am. i live on the Lincolnshire coast near a place called Louth. I think i'm actually closer to France!!!

loved ya last mods, im now excited :D

Cheers DiCe. Looking forward to exploring it. Not really sure what i'm going to do exactly. Although I do of course have a good few ideas knocking around. A lot will be determined when I get hold of the case and see what it's all about.

Aslong as it doesn't look like a mozart/breadbin then I'm sure it will be an improvement.

Oh hell you're onto me. Now everyone is going to be doing bread bin mods to Mozarts

If it's ok with you (as you coined the phrase) I may well end up calling it project bread bin though.

I've actually been quite inspired by your angel and a few other big enclosure projects to undertake something large scale. Pleanty of room to breath and for kit to go in without looking jumbled and cramped.

FU, thats my project :D

It would appear that you are a trifle upset at the proposition of a subsequent modding of this case, having completed a mod of it yourself.

or is the user of the name "bread bin" that causes offence I wonder?

Perhaps the proposal to go dual loop?

either way It appears I have caused unintended offence to Mr "Locky"

On a serious note, genuinely got confused by the "FU" and then the smiley face.

Thought "crap have i genuinely offended this guy or is he cool"?

So Locky, recognising you have first dibs on this although I have yet to have a thorough look through your build i would not dream of treading on toes here or impinging on your territory.

So the question here is....You cool?

No it's a joke w3bbo and the ocuk boys had :)

if you are going to get a Mozart, make sure it's the steel version, the alu one is rubbish and weak.

Already purchased, but not sure if ally or steel to be honest. But a bit late now anyway. It's most likely going to get chopped about a bit so if it's ally at least it will be easier to work on and save me a few bob in cutting disc.

Any chance you could link to your build log? be handy to get some hints and tips off someone who's already worked with this case

Still not sure what I'm going to do with it. I find when undertaking a project you have to spend quite a bit of time basically staring at the case and thinking how different things will look, where things will go, what is feasible and what is not etc. i know it will be i7. I know it will be water-cooled. but that's about it.

Open to ideas re colour scheme and anything else you think would be good with this case. Apart from the name of course which is already chosen.

Looking forward to what you do with that case G-Dubs.
Always wanted one to make a passive watercooled version of the zalman TNN500

Nearly did but this lot got me thinking about painting and colour coding instead of pure fuction - and now I'm using fans again :o:D

You've gone and started me thinking now....There's enough room in the Mozart for a cascade watercooler sytem...Mmmmm

So how far did you get ideas wise?
