ThermaWrap pipe insulation

I've got a roll ThermaWrap some pipes too close to a wall, and each other to use the foam tubing.

The instructions state:
"Ensure that the foil side of the insulation faces outwards."

Problem is both sides have a foil layer, and it's not detachable layer either. So anyone with experience of this product know if there is a right and wrong side?

Only difference is one side is flat and the other slightly bumpy.
 
Here a picture of the stuff. Only difference is the one side is flat (right side of pic) and the other is slightly ridged due to bubbles (left side of pic).

From the pic it seems that the bubbles go on the inside, if that's any help?

I was originally thinking the flat side would be best against the pipe as foil would be flush against surface. But the picture looked at may be right, and they have since put foil on both sides.

Looks like they've changed the design then. Bubbles are there to provide space for trapped air, which then acts as the insulator. Putting them on the outside wouldn't have worked.
