Another great week for Team Stompage, another 2 teams feel the wrath of Team OcUK

Not that good a week on the individual front, a few people who run highly optimized hardware on Boinc cant justify downtime on here which is fair
enough, project glitches have not helped either, hopefully a better week ahead.

DavidCopeman - you need to email the project admin to find out why your total is not showing correctly on the team ladder.
I hope ShadowScotland is back from Costa del Slacker real soon !

No worries, just come back ya hear :)

I know there is a couple of bits missing from the news stats but I was editing it on my laptop, which of course
has theSkynet running, plus my music and doing a lot of cut and paste work when the laptop had a bit of a fit
due to overheating and messed up some cell references.

I like ShadowScotland's spreadsheet though, quite interesting :)

Haha, quality! :p

Halz, got hourly stat grabs? Hoping to whip past toxic in the next day or two if he has slack mode on :p

The news took me a lot longer than I thought this morning so not had time to do any other stats.
This way you will have to give it all you've got as you will be running blind :p

Might try and fit some in this evening.

Pc was all set up to crunch 24/7 but switched the router off. Muppet! This is the first i've had access to the net so will send someone round to switch it back on. Just hope the client haven't auto shutdown.

Good to hear from you mate, make sure someone gets that router on fast, we need your output :)

And who said you could take the gloves off ! :p

Are you sure you are not biting off more than you can chew?

If you sneak round very quitely you just might get away with it....if you dont your screwed :p:D

.........or do you have some sort of secret weapon :D

My RAM and CPU are gonna so hate on me. As my graphics card sits there, having a nice relaxing afternoon since it has nothing to do :p

I missed that one !!!!!.....GPU has nothing to do......what !!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

GPU on Boinc, CPU on this......simplez :D

On your Boinc account page, for the project you are running, go into 'preferences for this project'.

From there you can setup different profiles - Home, work, school etc.

Set one up with theSkynet in mind and dont select 'use cpu', save and exit.

You need to set a specific pc to that profile eg change profile to 'work' (dont change the default profile, use that to change back
when you want to go back to the way you were)

Edit: to change the PC's 'location' click on 'computers on this account' then click on 'details' on the pc in question, from there
change the profile to the one you prepared earlier.

After about half an hour, and assuming no cpu units are incomplete, update the project from within Boinc manager.

If I missed anything I am sure someone will point it out.

Edit 2: keep the message log on screen and if you did it successfully you should an entry like '19:00 Computers location changed to...'

Updates can take a while (maybe half an hour) to register on the boinc server so be patient.

Typical

A lot of people are saying that clients are not connecting, never had any trouble myself.

I dont use the background app, work flow is not constant, can go for several hours
without any work then run for 4 hours flat out then go quite again.

I've not touched them for days and they seem to run fine :)

You could try a full explaination here, as you know theskynet admin have been known to visit here, a team member may even spot something.

edgedemon - welcome to the team, a most welcome contribution :)

Colasanto - nice progress :)

Totally missed that one Phil :o ........Go OcUK :D, not watching the stats as much as I would due to work, sorry
(Table shows team movements over the last couple of days)

One PC now sold, milkyway output dropped to zero and theSkynet drops a little too :(
Replacement PC should be operational in the next couple of days, hopefully all my ppd's should go up after that time :D

Something strange going on here, we stomp Western Australia and we are still in 18th position and Curtin University at 11th come from nowhere

Another strange thing, OcUK team member DavidCopeman's stats have never displayed properly.
On the team ladder he has 4934 points but if you lookup his username he has 15,960

As I understand it any credits you got before you joined the team do not count towards the team score so are not displayed in the team ranking

That makes sense as I did read that if a member leaves a team the score remains with that team.
At first I thought that was a great idea but now I'm not so sure, this could make things very complicated in the long term.

Infact this is a problem now, so far Shadowscotland has done the news by collecting the team member stats by looking up each member individually.
This is actually giving the team incorrect stats in comparision to the team ladders on the web (although to be fair at the time we thought it was a system error).
That gives me a real headache regarding this weeks news stats

And if that was not bad enough for me .....

As I said in a previous post I had a new PC about to go online.
Disaster - I was moving things around in the case when I temporarily disconnected a fan extension cable.
Now anyone that is familiar with these will know that it has 2 exposed pins at the end.
Totally forgetting about this I powered up again and the 2 pins were in contact with something.
Not sure what it was as I freaked out when I heard a noise and yanked the power cable.
Now when I try to power up I get nothing on screen and the mobo is showing 'FF', gutted.
Its my only AMD rig so I have no means of testing the mobo or cpu, b######s

Maybe why Curtin University came from nowhere is that they are adding more departments to the team.
[runs off to find the full faculty list ]
