They are back in stock!!! - DELL 3008WFP 30" Widescreen LCD Monitors...

Wombraider that's terrible service for a known fault! good on Gibbo for sorting it out now but this should have happened in the first place - Would you be getting sorted if you hadn't put a post up?

I ordered mine from Dell and got the A02 version last night!!

Stunning monitor! So much desktop space and the attention to detail is out of this world, every little bit was protected by plastic film, and no dead pixels! It's one slick set-up!

Feels very responsive in (PS3) gaming too - if there was input lag on older revisions it certainly is not apparent on this one!

I'm going to write a review later and will post a link up if anyone's interested.

I sent Gibbo an Email late on Friday afternoon with my details ( order number / rma numbers )

In answer to "would this be sorted without posting" , answer is yes , but I would have had take them to court to get the money they owed me.

I tried contacting OCuk several times using OCuk's webnotes system - specifically the complaints one at the bottom but it was no use.

Could buy a LCD 1080p TV instead ok lower pixel pitch for text but for gaming..

Hard to get a 30" 1080p tv though - yes they are around, but choice isnt really there and there is just as much potential for issues and you may get less choice of ports (ie unlikely to have display port, direct dvi etc etc - workarounds available but still may not be ideal)

32" LCD 1080p TV's are now available,.

AS I stated, I know they are around, but they are few and far betweem (little choice) and they are relatively new on the market so firmware isnt going to be that good for some time

Not only that but even if you get a good TV it doesnt mean you will get a good monitor:)

Well folks it has been over 2 working days since I sent Gibbo my details via email
regarding the lack of refund for returning my monitors to OCuk.

Still no Sign of anything being done :-(

Anyone care to take bets if anything will be done at all ?

I would bet £500 on something getting done. :p

Gibbo gets bombarded a little and is very busy with a few other things, he has just forwarded the email over to myself and you should have a new email in your inbox within the hour. :)

Looking into exactly what has happened with regards to this one.

hey there guys,

i'm an owner of the A00 revision Dell 3008WFP (or was is A01? either way it's the very first version they ever released, i snapped one up straight away!)

i have the back bleed issue and my sensitive eyes can notice a slight blurring in all games, especially fast paced consoles over the HDMI port.

my question however, is:

what is the A02 revision like when compared to the A00/A01 ? - does anybody know of any comparison reviews i can read etc?
does the A02 fix the backlight bleeding and/or the blurring?

i'm probably going to contact Dell directly for an A02 replacement if the A02 is actually better.

Thanks,
Draz.

HI Draz,

The main issue with the REV A00 was backlight bleed due to badly fitted bezels, particularly around the top. REV A01 correct this and some other issue - not sure what. No one seems to know what the REV A02 corrects above REV A01 but they do not have any issues.

You can arrange to have yours replaced next day, assuming it's a UK model with a UK Dell warranty simply

Regarding the warranty this is logged against the monitor Service Tag / and if it hasn't got one the serial number and the Dell works order number from the outer packaging simply call 0844 338 1200 ask for the monitor department quoting the works order number and serial number. Dell may also ask the original purchasing companies name.

I managed to pick up an ex repair 3007wfp for £380 around 4 months ago to go with my first one. Its been absolutely spot on.

I am however considering eventually to go for the 3008, do you people think one is worth the price?

Sorry to hijack thread.

I was amazed to read that OcUK actually refunds RMA shipping costs as well as refund shipping costs

Does that level of service apply to customers from Denmark as well ?

If it does I will never shop anywhere else :D

Things are actually getting far better around here :D
I've been saying for a long time that shop queries need to have a visible resolution posted on forum, & this is far better than a deletion (Even if the issue is resolved).

Well done :)
