Yo Yo Yo, check it out.
35 rolls of turf, each weighing about 30kg's in the back of an Audi A6 and you have full lowered action going on.
Also we had to travel about 20 miles up and down dale, it was worth it though for a lovely lush green lawn.

We had to guess but both said considerably more than 20kg's, one of us suggested weighing it then realised how sad that would have been, definately 25kg or over.

All that and no photos of the garden?

This is a motors forum, you don't want lawn pictures surely;)

Ok imagine this, it's a small rectangular shape. It was brown and now it's green and fluffy and we've done a fine job if i do say so myself.

It's all in the preperation, spend a good amount of time making sure the soil is level and then just roll the turf out, piece of cake.

Chipper just let me know anytime if you want the thread closed - though I do hope we get to see a pic of the grass ;)

No need to close it but thanks for the offer, I think it's rather funny.
If we felt it was unsafe then we wouldn't have travelled with the full load. As we were loading we were stepping on the towbar to make sure it hadn't reached its bump stops, there was no groaning from the supsension or any other ill effects.

The drive back was as safe as the drive down to be honest, we travelled at a reduced speed and left a bigger gap from the cars in front.

Actually the drive back was safer as we were over careful, the drive down was the bit people should be getting their knickers in a twist with. I can confirm we did indeed break the speed limit and took corners at a high rate of knots. You can really motor along with a 2.7l twin turbo quattro vehicle.

For once it isnt me!

It's been amusing to watch this one from the sidelines though. Particularly amusing is those who have wasted many many posts explaining how they dont care. They dont care so much they've posted 5+ times in the thread :p
I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have, it's kept me entertained anyway:D

chipper - where's the pics of your newly laid lawn then? :)

It isn't my lawn it's my mates, it's his car.
I'll get a piccy next time I'm round at his but to satisfy those that want to see a bit of lush green grass here's a quick picture I've just took of mine.

a lot of work currently in progress, the brown areas of lawn is where I'm top dressing to make it perfectly level, I'm also building a storage area at the bottom for toys.

Just try this malc, next time your at a garden centre pick a roll of turf up, you'll feel it's definately over 20kg's. Also the turf we got was being cut up as we turned up so was still damp.
We did put 35 rolls in the car, wether you wish to believe that or not is entirely upto you, that was a couple more then what we needed for an area roughly 6m x 4m.

I like a thread with a bit of spice in it though, anyway I think this thread had about died a death now.:D
