Yo

Any of you guys played any of the thief games for pc? In my opinion its one of the best stealth series ever made. the story and characters are brilliant.
I have just bought another hard drive so i can install xp on to play some classic games that will not run on vista.

anyone else run vista and xp just for this reason?

i had some good childhood moments playing thief, mafia, deus ex. time to brush the dust off and go again i think :D
 
Thief is made by the same people that made Deus Ex I believe. But anyway, thief all of them are brilliant games. I still play them, some of the best gaming experiences EVER. I love turning off the lights when plaything these.

Looking Glass Studios (Ultima, System Shock and Thief). I was heartbroken when Eidos messed it all up. LG didn't make Deus Ex, however, much of their talent moved to Ion Storm after the company folded.
 
Thanks, you've just reminded me to install this game. It came bundled with an x800xtpe a few years back, but bizarrly I never got round to playing it. Think I was too into BF2 at the time:/

Same here, playing splinter cell ct at the moment with the lights turned off, suprised how good it still looks as well (for a 3 year old game).

Playing at 1600x1200 with all the bells and whistles turned on, and the framerate never dips from its 100fps cap. Quality game.

 
Anyone else notice how LCDs and their terrible black depth completely ruins games like Thief/Thief 2 which rely on convincing black depth (especially at night in a dark room) to really scare the **** out of you (along with some reallly freeky sounds effects). I've actually bought an old CRT to sit next to my LCD just for certain dark games.

Love the two Thief games (Thief 3 doesn't count :D). Finished both at least twice including the hardest setting. Best atmosphere ever, great stealth mechanics, great levels, excellent story, setting and characters. As said above, headphones, lights out and have several spare pairs of underwear ready, possibly a defibrilator too :p The spides and the ghosts freaked me out the most.

What a tragedy that LG closed.
 
I tried both Thief 1 / 2 and really though they would be great, but i never really got into them too much. I always tried to attack and kill everyone. I think i prefer my games to be more quickly paced.

get a better LCD, mines great for black s ^^

The Theif games are the best series of stealth games with Thief 2 being the best but as noted by thecrereegg 'The Cradle' in Thief 3 is possibly the best ever level of any game!

Funnily enough i just bought Deady Shadows last week, as i never played it before, it ran terribly on my machine when it came out.

Runs great on vista btw.
