Thief Series

Damn.. I gotta go find my old thief cds. Had 1 and 2. Not sure if I ever got 3 though. 1st level of the first game still my most played level of anything :)

get a better LCD, mines great for black s ^^
A CRT produces a black depth around 5 times darker than the best LCDs can offer, plus they don't crush near-black colours. I've tried Thief on at least 4 LCDs, including a TN, a PVA and a S-IPS. For me the atmosphere in Thief works best when you are genuinely struggling to see what's in dark areas.

I remember trying Thief 1 or 2 many years ago (99/00) on a Voodoo3, but it was unplayably dark. You started outside this mansion or something with an iron grating fence, but it was like, pitch black and you couldn't even see where to go.

I know it is supposed to be a dark game but this was ridiculous, I had no trouble at all with so-called dark games like Doom3. It was that bad that I couldn't play because I couldn't see where I needed to go.

On modern gfx cards with better gamma control it's probably not so bad.

I had the demo from a pc gamer mag, and it had the first level. So, before I purchased the game I played the demo to death, which is why I also favour that level - because I had so much fun.
