Well, next door had the AA van out this morning on his brand new 407. I thought this was a tad strange with it being a new car (Diesal Btw) Anyhow, I thought nothing of it and carried on with my day. Next door has just left my house, with the news that he's had his diesal tank emptied, they did this by drilling 3 holes in his tank.

So, i go out to check the wifes car, it's fine, check my car and it's been done aswell :( I'm now awaiting the police to turn up, although what they can do i dont know. So now i have a problem, i need the car for work, but i cant drive it with this sticking out of my tank......

Sorry for the crap quality, but you get the idea. Is there anyway to patch up the hole and make it last? Or is it new tank time? It's a plastic tank and the hole when i remove the hook will be approx 5mm. I cant touch anything yet until the plod arrive.

Any help very much appreciated.

Thieving scrotums :(

You can get special epoxies for sealing holes and leaks in fuel tanks, though I don't know how well they work on the plastic ones.

oh dear! I can't quite comprehend that. Why would you do this for £50 of DERV?

£100 of fuel (He certainly hasn't had £50 of Diesel Engined Road Vehicle stolen!) if its two cars :(

The annoying thing is, mine is petrol and was on less than a quarter of a tank. I was going to fill it on saturday morning, but something cropped up and i ended up coming straight home. Next doors car is always full as it's a company car and he does lots of tramping.

the grey mafia in my street would never have let this happen. They would have bored the thieves to death with small talk or clubbed them with their shopping baskets before they had got any fuel out of my car! Sometimes it's good having a 70% over 60 population on ** street.. :p

Any other cars down the street that have had the same thing to them?

Wonder why they only targetted you two cars.

It such a shame that these things are happening these days :(

The police have just left and all they can do is give me a crime number. He reckons it's definitely ****** at work, gonna have a go at getting the hook out and see what the exact damage is.

Edit:- @ Bennah, nope so far just the 2 cars, they couldn't get to the missus car because next door had parked right up her bumper. It's only a small village (approx 200-250 Houses in total) I've no doubt the jungle drums are already banging, so maybee there are other people who dont know yet.

Will get some better pics soon.

So far we have a total of 4 including mine. A guy up the road has had no fuel pinched, he has however had a side indicator ripped from his 307 and the wires snipped. His wife has had both side indicators from her freelander, both wires snipped.

Thats very odd any ideas what this is about?

Thats blackburn for ya :(

When i was at school id heard of breaking side indicaters to kill the alarm not that i tried it was just school talk, doubt it would work on modern cars though or even older ones

Its just absolute disgraceful thinking of these things happening to cars.

Must be orgainsed groups of people who know what they are after and take what they want

OIIII :D

An interesting development has occurred! The lady in the end house was woken-up at 3.00a.m this morning, she looked out of the window and saw a guy dressed in black throwing stuff in the boot of a car. She then switched the light on and the guy saw her jumped in his car and tried to drive off. The car wouldnt start, and he tried to bump start it down the hill untill he was out of site. She didnt phone the police  and thought nothing more of it, went about her buisness this morning and saw this car on the pub carpark. The carpark is only around the corner from my house.

Luckily, she wrote down the plate number and it's very distinctive BIG 3690 I went down to have a look at this car and it's a nissan fairlady z, never heard of one before let alone seen one! The car had a crooklock on (ironic huh) and had spills of diesal over the bonnet and wings. Phoned the police back, and they came out very quickly, the last i saw of the car it was on the back of a police transporter.

The police have since been in contact and the car is registered to a guy in manchester. They are now awaiting for him to go to the pound, not sure at the moment whether or not the car is stolen and if he'll turn up to collect it.

My mums new fella came around and has patched up the tank with some epoxy type stuff, gonna wait until it drys before chucking some petrol in.
