It has a future. Just not for a good few years.

Bandwidth between you and your ISP is not as much as an issue as to the wider internet. The idea is, afaik, ISPs integrate OnLive servers and offer the service for a fee.

Oh, and old news

Very old news, was posted almost a year ago.
Its out in US now (I think) and reviews are very bad saying you need very low resolution to keep the ping down & even then there is huge mouse lag.

It's the latency that's the killer.

100ms round trip for control input would be annoying as hell to play on.

100ms isn't so much of a problem for single player games tbh, especially if its coded with that in mind.

And look how far we've come in 5 years.... And as I mentioned before, bandwidth between customer and ISP isn't really much of an issue for most.

Thought this is years off mainstream

100ms mouse lag with be very noticeable.

it's not like lagging on hit reg it's input lag.

Ever tried streaming >1080p footage without buffering?

OnLive is hilariously poor, the only way it would work is if they harness the power of tachyons, even then the pricing would put me off.

Well we will all need JAnet connections, the ones you get at university (in my expedience in halls) are amazing, 5 ms solid any UK server.. It would work a treat on those, but until that is an reality for the general public its just not going to work..

People opposed Steam (and still do) :)

It wont be a sudden thing, it will permeate slowly until "live" gaming is the norm...

Blindingly, really? Sure thing!
