I bought a nice Argon pack from overclockers in 2010 ( Argon Intel Core i3 550 3.20GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle ).
It has been running like a dream for years, in the last month I decided to give my graphics an upgrade to an Asus Geforce 970.

I've reset the bios to normal ( not overclocked ), all I can see now is 8gb out of my 16gb memory. And now the system powers on, fans spin then it turns off.

I thought perhaps it was the CPU saving itself, so have fitted a new heatsink, still only seeing half the memory.

I tried reseating the CPU yesterday and no have the power on and off saga :(

Any suggestions, I don't really want to buy a new motherboard, cpu, memory combo as I dont have the cash after ugrading the graphics card :(

Well tried re-seating the cpu again, all i get now is the system powering on, fans spinning, then cutting out.

Looks like I'm going to have to get a new motherboard bundle. As I'm not getting any life out of the system now :(

Have you changed your computer case or done anything to the power button/wires on the case.

Pressing your power button and holding it in will do exactly what you're describing.

It will turn on... fans will start spinning and then cut out... because the power button is only meant to connect two contacts briefly not permanently.

To check your power button is working, disconnect it from the motherboard and start the computer by briefly connecting the two power pins.

If it works correctly like that then the button or wiring is borked.

If the motherboard is a GA-H55M-UD2H, there is a chance it does not support the latest GPUs without a bios update. The latest for this board is F11 (2010) so you may be out of luck. I really hope i am wrong.

As billysielu said, try with your old GPU and see if it works.

Out of interest, what PSU have you got? It may be a power issue.
