I always thought ACME stood for A Company Making Everything. As in the cartoons, they always had some mad invention with ACME on the side. Now I see computer says no.

It is a generic name meaning "pinnacle" or "the best" or "peak", "prime", etc... Although in the Looney Tunes universe the name is somewhat ironic because hardly any of the products work as intended.
