Things to do and see in Berlin

We spent a week in Berlin in June this year. We based ourselves in the Mitte area and stopped at the Radisson Blu. We had a great time there, the food is excellent and a reasonable price. The portions are huge, check out the restaurants under the railway arches at Hackescher Markt train station.

Museum island is a must see if you like history, art and culture, and 100m from the Radisson Blue hotel next to Berliner Dom Cathedral http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum_Island

The German Technical museum is superb if you like aircraft, engineering, steam trains, and 2nd world war memorabilia.

Also check out the Stasi museum as well, it will open your eyes to what really happened during the cold war in Berlin.

A bit of advice about Berlin, the shops are shut on a Sunday!! The museums, restaurants and attractions are open but all the shops are closed. The Germans value having a Sunday off, and I don't blame them either.

Paris Platz, Blaue Kirche, Checkpoint Charlie, Jewish Memorial, Berlin Zoo. Umm, trying to remember what else we did on that school trip.
