There's a theme park just north of the city called Canadas Wonderland which is worth a visit if you like that sort of thing.
If you have a car, definitely do the drive down to Niagara via Niagara on the Lake. There are a lot of wineries on the way, if you're interested I'd recommend one that makes ice wine. There's a drive-in movie theatre in St Catherines, which is about half way between Niagara and the city.
The one food place I'd recommend is Richtree. It's a quirky market restaurant where you use a credit card to buy food cooked fresh in front of you in stalls. You'll probably end up eating a lot of fast food if you go to all of the tourist attractions unless you take something with you. Harveys is ok as far as burger places go, it's like McDonalds and Subway combined.
