Hey all,

So I am taking my girlfriend to Cornwall for her birthday. I have rented a cottage in (what looks like) a very nice location near a beach in Portscatho.

Other than just relaxing I figure I should come up with some things to do/see while we are there.

So my question to you is, have any of you been to this Portscatho ? Whats it like ? what things are there to do around this area ?

The only thing I know about Cornwall is that Eden Project (which I intend on going to)

Thanks

Get inside her five times a day and take her to heaven and back.

That's from Blackadder :P something about treating women like airplanes...

umm well my boyfriend goes to Fistral beach surfing, not too sure how far that is from there! But could be a nice day trip.
Also, go out for cream tea! It's a necessity in Cornwall :D

Definitely Eden, it's a great place to visit.

Into water sports? The clean kind - Fistral is a good beach for surfing.

And of course, trip to the Isles of Scilly!

Surf? any popular surf beaches have wetsuit and board rental. Place I looked at was charging £20 for 2 hours suit and board.

Not too bad then, only one day of bad traffic. It's bad on the way down on Fridays most of the day, bad both ways on Saturdays and bad on the way up Sunday afternoon/evenings.

:p I was awaiting that kind of response hehe

They are pretty much right. Cornwall is not the place to take a young 20something for a nice week away. So just stay in the cottage and, yea :p

Take her to the seal sanctuary or something, my GF loved that.

I was there last week. Seal Sanctuary if good if you like animals, as is Paignton (sp) Zoo. Eden Projects I liked but the wife found boring. There are some really nice little beaches at villages. Lizard point is a nice walk and the also do a Mock RNLI rescue there some days, which was cool.

A sancturary and zoo being ideal places if you like animals... who'd have thought it.

Check out the villages/towns. Perhaps pop for a day to Truro, etc. Eat/visit small little country pubs. ;)

I don't know, if you're a sadist who hates animals, you might find a certain enjoyment in seeing them in cages? ;)
and there are those who love animals and hate zoos cause the conditions they're kept in
(not trying to ruin it for anyone mind you)

sanctuaries are different so ignore this comment in regards to them :p

2 hour ferry, or a 20 minute helicopter ride!

oooo that sounds pretty cool ! will deffo have to do that

Yea tbh only reason I picked cornwall was the Eden project. My gf been wanting to go there for a while now. So I figured might as well have a nice relaxing time there also.

Plus I've been told there are some nice beaches so hopefully the sun will be shining :)
I've never done surfing but must be worth a go :D
