Things to do in Cornwall

Cornwall is an awesome place.
As long as you have transport.
Plenty to see and do, fantastic places to eat

im going back down early sept when it gets a bit quieter ,never run out of things to do but my boards are down there:) plus we love the coastal walks
my tip for regualr visitors is to join national trust £20 ish but free parking then for the year ,my local beach is chapel porth so it saves me a fortune

That was one of the other things that attracted me to Cornwall. Was just being able to walk along the coast. Hopefully it won't be swamped by people. I'm not going till late Sept. But I like to plan ahead :)

I've been a National Trust member for over a year now :)

Sounds like a travel Brochure :)

If you go surfing i always prefer Perranporth to Fistral Beach. Its normally not as busy too but still quite busy, Newquay is quite good for 20 somethings if you just wanna go get wasted and lie on the beach all holiday and not see anything.

i prefer Perranporth as well plus you can park on Droskin point and walk down the wooden steps to surf. Newquay is good when the west facing beaches are maxed out as the town beaches are still useable ,same as in st agnes chapel can be a mess but trevuence cove clean and perfect

Cornwall is fantastic, there's plenty to do....

- Walk along the north coast between St. Ives and Lands End. Beautiful coast, old tin derelict tin mines to see.

- More beaches than you could shake a stick at. Being a national trust member is good, a lot of the beach car parks are owned by the NT, so you get free parking.

- St Ives has art galleries galore, and a weekly jazz club on Tuesday nights.

- Cornwall has a fantastic music scene. Check some gigs out. A lot of pubs have bands on every friday and saturday night. Particular recommendation of mine is the Driftwood Spars Hotel in St Agnes. Queen played there when they were all Cornish teenagers in a band together.

- Go out in Truro or Falmouth. Newquay is horrendous, but the aforementioned towns have some nice bars, and a good friendly nightlife atmosphere.

- Eden project, as you say, is a must.

- Buy a pastie from WC Rowes in Truro. Best pasties I ever ate.

I'm sure there's plenty more, I spent my uni years down there, and don't recall being bored for one second!

I've been for the last 5 years to camp in Newquay, admittedly you and the gf probably wont be there for the thing I was there for! Surfing, drink and females. We always plan it so we coincide with the boardmasters week.

As already mentioned though try out the eden project. Theres a bar on the beach at Perranporth, lovely when the suns setting Visit lands end, but make sure on the way back to stop by a little village called Trewellard for tea. Theres a Meadery which is absolutely immense, eating with your hands, lighting by candle light, massive portions for very cheap (i'd seriously advise the ribs), very good food and a massive selection of meads to drink and/or buy to take away.

Theres a go carting place near St Eval, £35 per person for 30 minutes...
70Mph go carts, lots of fun :)

But dont go in the wet, and you need to get there at 9.30 otherwise you're going to be trying to pass about 20 other carters on the track..

I went to Cornwall last Sept with the GF and thoroughly enjoyed it. Things to do/see we did were:

Tintagel - King Arthur's mythical castle ruins
Port Isaac - visit the village from Doc Martin; the pub right on the 'beach' is pretty good for food too
St Ives - well worth a visit for the galleries and creative-type shops, just beware of the viscious seagulls!
St Michael's Mount - very picturesque
Truro - reasonable for shopping and again quite 'quaint' you can also get the ferry from there to Falmouth if you fancy a boat trip

Have a game of golf.... Its a very very comical sport... (sport being used lightly here)

Either that or persuade her she wants to try new things on top of a hill, down by the beach and so on...

usefull little webcam (for me anyway)here from the blue bar in Porthtowon this is a great surfing beach as it can still be used at high tide ,i use it to check the weather/ conditions ect as its only afew miles down the road when im at my seasonal pitch http://www.blue-bar.co.uk/webcam.htm
