I'm staying at Westward Ho! and we've had an amber weather warning for rain and mild flooding today.

It's just me, my wife and our 9 month old Vizsla and there's not much open until May 17th.

Tried to go for a meal and drink last night but they had shut the bar/restaurants early due to bad weather/lack of trade.

Our plan today is basically to put the waterproofs on and do a walk on a small bit of the tarka trail today, as at least it is paved and the rain won't ruin it too much.

Any other suggestions? It's highs of 9°C but feels like 6°C :(

Down here I'm happy coastal walking or bodyboarding (in my wimpy winter xcel wetsuit) I'm sure the weather's picking up a bit

Also we did Woolacombe Ilfracombe and combe Martin when we were there back in the day, just finding new places

Could always pop into Ho Barts amusements and waste some money :p

Where did you try and go that was closed? Indoor wise there's just so little around the area, peoples idea of a day out is Atlantic Village which is depressing, soulless and you'll be out in 10 minutes..

The Pig on the beach.

They were supposed to serve food until 9 but we arrived at 7:30 and were told they had just closed up.

Nothing else was open either. Maybe 'The waterfront' but that didn't have covered shelter and it was raining.

Kent's Cavern was the first thing that sprung to my mind too.

Trago Mills (shopping centre)
Plymoth Dome (tech museum)
Bygones (vintage / Victorian museum)
Paignton Pier (amusements arcades)
Buckfast Abbey (for the stained glass eye candy)
Babbacombe model village
Torquay Fleet Walk (shopping centre)
Dartmoor cream tea (remember, clotted cream first!) :D
Boat trip from Torquay to Brixham
Occombe Farm (for walks, dairy produce and full English breakfast)

Devon > Cornwall any day :) Cornwall is full of 2nd homes that are empty 50 weeks of the year, depriving the local economy.

Barnstaple Pannier Markets if open, or the shopping centre. Alternatively, what's open at Atlantic Villiage?

There's also the market in Bideford as well.

There's literally naff all in the Bideford market. Atlantic Village similarly, just tacky outlet shops which are always closing down.

Not a lot you can do but embrace the rain and have a wander round. Any indoor hospitality, including arcades are shut until Monday.

Have you ever been or are you suggesting it because of the Mock the Week / Josh Widdicombe association?
Trago truely is somewhere you only go if you have a damn good reason to go there and not a pleasurable day out in any way!
