My wife works for a company based in Esher and works remotely as we're dirty northerners.

Now that covid etc has calmed down, they've asked her to go down and meet the team/go out for a meal and stuff.

Due to a few medical issues she has, i wasn't keen on her driving/getting the train down, so have suggested i take the Friday off work, we head down on the Thursday night, then she can spend Friday with her colleagues and i'll find something to do, then we can come home on the Saturday/Sunday.

My initial thinking was that it's not far from the Thames so could take my paddleboard down, or take my bike, or just go for a long run for a few hours. Weather is likely to be grim as it's towards the back end of November.

However, i'm also wondering if there is anything particular that's worth checking out? Either on my own on the Friday or for us both on the weekend.

Just thinking off the top of my head from cycles I do around that area (outdoor exploring).

RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey Hills, Epsom Common. Some nice looking villages and towns around there also.

Cheers, i think this idea is likely winning to be honest. Although given i only bought the bike last week i think i might need to get some practice in!

Coral Reef Bracknell's Waterworld

Cheers, that actually looks fun. Pirate ship sounds awesome. Might suggest it for the Saturday as not sure i'd want to go solo.

I went there when i was about 12 in 1994 ish and i never forgot it. Not the same magic for adults i know but should still be a very nice day.

Hampton Court Palace is just down the road from there if that is your type of thing.

If you are taking a bike then could ride through Bushy Park or Richmond Park, the latter is always popular with cyclists but a bit hilly in places

Kingston for shops or few restaurants on the river

Starting from Kingston can walk the Thames paths either to Richmond or Hampton Court, both worth visiting. Have Home and Bushy Park on route to Hampton Court, Richmond Park just up Kingston Hill, London's best and biggest park, the best part of all London IMO.

Weather permitting there's enough nice walks to keep you going without spending much, not nearly as many tourist traps as central London and a much better quality of life due to all the parks.

For a nice pub The Boaters on Canbury Gardens right on the river before the river path to Richmond, much nicer atmosphere than most pubs in busier areas.

Esher itself is nice, expensive area but a little dull, Kingston, Richmond, Hampton Court all nearby and much more interesting.

In November on a sunny day can still be picturesque so hopefully weather is decent for you.

I live there. Off the top of my head...

Kingston shopping centre is nearby (although frankly I prefer hopping down to Guildford shopping centre which is much nicer _ it even has a small castle).
Hampton Court palace
River boat trip down the Thames (short bus to Kingston then boat trip to Hampton Cort Palace for exampl)
Horse racing at Sandown Park
Dry ski slope at Sandown Park
Brooklands motor and aircraft Museum at nearby Weybridge
Wisley
Claremont Park gardens
Box Hill is about 20 mins drive
Chessington World of Adventures
Richmond
Twickenham
Karting near Tolworth
Small cinema in Esher. Larger ones in Kingston and Guildford
Train into London Waterloo
Outdoor ice skating at Hampton Court palace from around November
Bowling near Tolworth
Claygate beer festival 4th and 5th Sept. Walkable 20 mins or short bus from Eaher (I live in Claygate)
Loads of pubs and restaurants

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. @Hades I feel like Box Hill might have to be on a list if i'm taking the bike given it's general significance.

As mentioned above, i will generally be praying for a nice bright sunny winters day!
Pedal bike or motorbike? If motorbike then Rykas cafe at the base of Box Hill is a massive bikers draw. There is also Newlands Corner also nearby for general car and bike meets.

Pedal bike.

It's likely to be Friday the 19th November i think. So fairly specific from an event side of things.
