Think I broke my CPU

Hi all. I recently upgraded from a phenom ii to a FX8350, and a Sabretooth mobo, anyway I installed the new mb/cpu with no problems, but only used the stock heatsink as I had no thermal paste to hand, with a view to installing my kuhler 620 at a later date....well, today I did that, but unfortunately I bent some cpu pins whilst removing the cpu, and whilst I have got them back in to shape, when I boot I can't get it to POST, and the red CPU led is on constantly. Whilst everything seems to be running(cpu fan, system sounds normal) it will not POST. I removed the 8350 and put the Phenom back in to the same system, and it is fine.

Is there anything I can do, or do I just have to suck it up and put it down to experience?]

Cheers

Yeah....Ah well, these things happen. I'm not too upset about it tbh, as I went on a bit of a run last night playing poker, so replacing it won't be a massive headache.

One thing is for sure- I am not going to install the Kuhler when my replacement arrives. It is a bit of a pain to install! I'll stick with the Freezer 7 Pro.

PS. I have learned the value of keeping bits around as well...I could easily have sold my phenom on, or the Freezer, and been totally lost, but luckily I had them handy;)

By small chance it's savable , keep checking the CPU from different angles. You "may" be able to slightly bend some pins back in place. How 's the CPU sit in the socket ? Is it flush as per usual. ?
Can you add a snap of the CPU so we can see the damage.

I'll have another look at it tomorrow, once I am at home. I might take a pic, but I don't have any high quality camera!

Man... is your BIOS revision 1604 or higher ?
If not, I'm not surprised that FX doesn't want to go :) Remember to clear CMOS memory after that (flashing BIOS), too.

Some pins on cpu socket are responsible for voltage.
So you might have fried the cpu, just saying this is a possibility.

Just to update. After checking everything, all of the pins are fine, and it sits perfectly in the socket and I have since tested the CPU in a third PC and it doesn't work, so it is definitely knackered:(...I just ordered another one and have that up and running now.

I am 50/50 on a new cooler atm. Looking at the H20 950
