I built my first pc a few months ago,

Ryzen 5 2600
Stock CPU fan
Asrock B450M-HDV
8gb Vengence LPX 2400mhz
Evga white 500w PSU
Generic Samsung SSD from hp desktop
MSI GT1030

Pc would freeze once a week initially, with an audio buzzing. I started looking into this and it was suggested that I needed to reinstall drivers which I did. This didn’t resolve the issue however. A week or so later the crash started to change. The screen would just go black with the Sam audio buzzing and the keyboard and mouse would turn of as if they had no power however the pc would stay on.

I would just have to hard restart and then it would work. I tried various things to solve this but nothing worked.

Now every time I turn it on the monitor doesn’t turn on and the keyboard and mouse have no power. Every 1/30+ attempts to turn it on result in a normal boot and everything works fine for about 35 minutes.

Event viewer says nothing and I’ve tried removing CMOS battery however it doesn’t seem to reset the time regardless of how long I leave to sit.

Please any suggestions to solve my issues?!

post a few pics of the innards please

Thank you

what do you mean by that?

I appreciate the heads up,

So in short when I turn the computer on successfully it will eventually freeze and I’ll get buzzing from the speakers. The keyboard and mouse will also loose power. I then hard restart the pc. The pc turns on however the screen stays asleep/doesn’t detect input and the keyboard and mouse don’t receive any power.

Initially this problem was intermittent and would go away after I restarted however it gradually got worse working 1/15 attempts then 1/30 attempts etc etc. Now the monitor will never detect input, the keyboard and mouse never have power. (Both are led backlit).

I reinstalled windows a few weeks ago as an attempt to resolve the issue and it worked for a week or so but now as I can’t get the screen to detect input at all I’m struggling to make changes like reinstalling windows. I assume it’s some form of hardware failure at this point but as I don’t know much I’m struggling put my finger on it.

I’ve attempted to reinstall ram, tried different ram slots, removed and changed CMOS (however this didn’t reset the date/time on my pc) Unplugged and replugged everything, gpu etc etc tried a different monitor different mains plug different cables tried taking components out and starting that way and I can’t seem to find anyone who’s ever had a resolve for the issue

Appreciate it you taking the time

do you have any spare parts from an old computer to try to pinpoint the problem?
what if you do a hard reset (ie turn the computer off from the mains/psu power switch)...does it restart successfully?
if a soft restart doesn't work, it usually is pinpointing to a hardware issue...normally power delivery of some sort.
cpu temps okay?
have you tried building out of the case to see if the issues still happen?

I’ll have to see if the old pc has anything I can use I know the psu and mobo are out of use. I’ve tried turning it off through the mains power on the psu and that’s not worked I will try building outside of the case now I assume the mobo could be grounded?

All temps were fine according the speccy and amd software

this would be my first step to see if there's any shorts in the case causing the issue
if the rig runs fine outside the case then it's not a component issue

Right, so I booted outside the case and the monitor keyboard and mouse all turned on as they should! However after logging in the screen froze as it has in the past and didn’t turn on again along with the keyboard and mouse.

I tried booting outside the case again with my old PSU and the screen did not turn on neither did the keyboard and mouse. So I assume the issue isn’t with the current PSU as the old one currently works in another system but not this one?

I’ve put my graphics card on my old system and that works. I’m going to put my new PSU in the old system and try that. If that works it has to be ram mobo or cpu.

Should have done this earlier, I appreciate your help good sir :)

if your PSU works in your old system...

random crashes usually (but not always) mean memory corruption - but what makes it odd is that this does not usually need a hard reset to solve...odd.

It’s eother the cpu, mobo or ram. Not sure why the ram would atop keyboard mouse and monitor working on start up though?
