Think i've lost interest in pc gaming.

It is important for everyone to have a good connection speed, but in raids especially if you're healing i find i go for heavy in addons, even as DPS and tank i would and i wouldn't be running max. settings on a laptop with those tbh, especially in stupid aura fights.

I don't know enough about how the add ons effect performance, I thought it would be a memory issue initially then a cpu. I have 4gb and a i3. For a game that came out in 2004 that is surely enough?

As far as sports games go, they are a hell of a lot better on console, prior to FIFA11, fifa has been shockingly worse on PC for a while, gameplay, graphics wise, and i can't even remember the last madden that came out for pc?

This is one area we didn't touch on, and I agree with you. PES 2011 is supposed to be good on PC and generally, but all the big name games do not get given much love on the PC, if they do actually get released on it.

But I guess we are ultimately talking about this guys problem, it's actually probably my fault but this is turning into a platform war! It's interesting though, and you know your stuff.

Also never suggested you would use your laptop for gaming, but whilst gaming say playing WoW for example, sitting in a dungeon queue, waiting for everyone to release/run back in, i like to browse the net. Now say your playing some pub S&D on COD, you cannot multi task on your xbox, hence leading you to use your laptop on your lap if you want to do anything, maybe you don't have a tendancy like myself to be always doing something though.

No idea what you're on about with COD? I rarely play multiplayer console games, and when I play a game I play a game, no internet or other distractions. A bit like watching a movie. Actually switching to Internet frequently if anything would take my interest away from some games. I can browse and play WoW or FM 2011 no problem.

Actually my laptop is always on, so if I'm playing Assassins Creed for example, I would pause it, hit PC on my av receiver remote then browse the web, takes about a second. I think that is relevant to what you are saying.

You obviously don't have to spend the money you did on a PC every 12 months, could get one for the same price as your laptop and it will do you a few years, but one pc>console+laptop for me, you're basically subsituting one thing for two and on the whole coming up with a less enjoyable experience (imo ofcourse), and you can hook your PC up to your TV and use a wireless mouse and keyboard if you like anyways.

I see your point. The plus for me. I don't need a desktop any more, laptops are powerful enough to play all the games I want to play, if they're programmed well, I can do so at high settings. My laptop makes virtually no noise. I can take it on holiday. It doesn't look like a charvers suburu impreza 4exchaust green flashing sports car, that can only go 30mph in a 30mph zone because a cop is following it.

In your opinion, that was an important point. If you could be me for 24hours your opinion of this issue might be completely different.
Games as a whole, personally i enjoy on the PC more, possibly due to the more socially interactive side of it, but i cannot see the advantages of having console+lappy over PC, PC+console is probably the best combination imo.

It sounds like you like your MMORPG and that is where the PC shines the most imo, though FPS games are close. I think it's 50/50 for me now, maybe the PC shaves it still actually.

The advantage of laptop+console over pc+console is space. I have a powerful desktop still sitting here gathering dust, as there is no sane reason for me to replace my laptop.

I can't agree with you about the browsing thing, but maybe its just me.

I have recently quit WoW and MMOs all together, but trust me, if you put enough addons on, take recount for example it will hog your memory and CPU and slow your game down, particularly on aura fights where its obviously doing something with data every single second on every player with the combat log, power auras/questhelper can also hog memory, or gearscore is bad if people still use it?

But as you've stated, laptop is enough for what you play/do, i guess it isn't for me.

Consoles are great, but if a game is on a PC i will always enjoy it far more enjoyment, and i enjoy a large range of games, but i lean towards FPS/sports games right now.

But my main uses of PC are BFBC2/ME2/A couple of other games (FM11 recently) and browsing the web and chatting to people on vent/skype.
I even find if im playing console with a friend on FIFA we prefer to use Skype/vent over ingame microphones, granted the PSN microphone/chat system is 100x ****ter than xbox, but i still don't rate xbox very high.

Since you play single player games mainly i would have to agree that laptop+console might be the way to go, but if your big into multiplayer PC has to be the way to go for me.

I started to get bored a few years back. I used to play a lot of FPS games, but started to thing that the latest blockbuster game was pretty much the same as the last. It started to get boring...

Over the last year or so I've started to play more indie games which have really sparked my interest again. Most of them are quite unique. If you're bored with the normal games out there, check out some more alternative stuff like Braid, Trine, Altitude (my current favourite 'play for 10 mins' game), Aquaria, Machinarium etc. They are not going to push your system to the limits, but they are all, most importantly, really fun and interesting to play.

SpaceChem is currently on my radar. It's being tipped as being the best puzzle game of 2011 already. Worth a look.

I think current indie games are sometimes of astonishing quality, Braid for example and Trine. Simple to play difficult to master, fair, nice graphics/sound everything almost spot on. Stories haven't got the quality of some of the bigger releases though.

This is also a plus for PC users, even though you can play them on xbox(most of the best ones) you can get them for peanuts on the PC at times.

steam sales bring back the passion (or obsession with buying games anyway lol)
I find if I get bored, go back to the old games in my steam library like opposing force (still a great laugh online)

Thanks for all the advice guys:cool:

I don't play on consoles, so i haven't gone over to the dark side yet:D

Currently I have the following games installed - WOW, BC2 COD : BO, Fallout NV, StarCraft 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Mafia 2, Dirt 2 and Assassins Creed 2. Jeez, i've just noticed ive got a lot of number two's there.

I'll be getting Dead Space 2 this week sometime so watch this space.

Thanks for the replies once again.

The stand out titles on that list for me are StarCraft 2 and Dirt 2. Fallout NV is good but IMO you should try picking up Fallout 3 as that is a fantastic game.

Dead Space 2 should be a great game but have you played the first Dead Space yet?

Yeah played the first one, it was scary but i managed to get through it.

Steam sales used to really excite me, but I've realised that I no longer enjoy playing games, and even when I did there were only a few that ever really absorbed me, so even if there was some OK looking game for £1 I wouldn't bother buying it now, as I'd probably play it for a couple of hours at most then do something else. I found this with quite a few of the games that I got last year. Maybe it's because I'm so busy with other stuff now, so I feel a little guilty playing games when I have other stuff to do. But anyway, recently I have spent virtually no time playing games, and it hasn't bothered me... I suppose I'll get back into it when the summer holidays/a good new game comes along.

Try a different genre.. something outside your "comfort zone".

Better still, pick a game and join a clan.

Any game can be better when playing with the same people who you get to know instead of randoms.

i have PC / PS3 / WII and to be honest the must fun I have had in the last 6 months gaming was on the Wii - Monster Hunter Tri and Golden eye have taken most of my time up. FO:NV I got as I loved FO3 but it just didn't grab me.

Funny enough am in the same position as you cant be buggered playing anything I had a

quick look into Fallout 3 and New vegas then metro 2033 as multiplyer ports were killing my

gaming fun totally ,take a break m8 if you can as there's some good games coming out soon

yeah im pretty much bored atm. waiting on dead space 2, crysis 2, mass effect 3, duke nukem forever, half life 3, portal 2 and unreal tornament 4

Minecraft's been pretty fun lately but in general I think there's a huge developer vacuum in this 'Call of Duty' era. What happened to casual and fun games like the SSX series on consoles?

We need more casual games that are found more often on consoles,
SSX, Jet Set Radio, Gitaroo Man.
Can else think of any more oldies but goodies?

Ive completely lost interest in console games, even playing PS3 at a mates house I just cant be bothered to play longer than 10 minutes. Just seems boring.

But I still play CSS quite regularly and I doubt I will stop playing that for the forseable future. Dont know what it is about that game, but I always go back to it.

I will buy a PS3 though if the rumours on HD MGS are true!

Holy ****, SSX, gief.

I've kinda gone off gaming. I was only ever bothered by the likes of MMORPG's with a little Fifa and Football Manager, but even those aren't interesting me too much. I'll keep an eye out on Rift, but other than that I can't be bothered with games.

But, I'm quite glad as It's stopped me being a bit lazy, and I'm now going to the gym 3 times a week, and looking to start Mountain Biking, so for me it's definitely a good thing. :)

Good man, and you're living in the right area for it! (I was riding in the Peaks only a week ago :)) I decided to get back into mtb again when I hit 30. Was well into it in my teens....then I bought my first PC :o

Surprised nobody has mentioned the game I enjoyed most in the last couple of years - Batman Arkham Asylum. Quite simplistic, but looked good, played well and very well paced. I'd definitely suggest it, especially as it's only about a tenner now.

A bit of a left field suggestion, have you considered going Eyefinity/NV Surround? I've found going to three screens has really added a whole new zest of life to my older games and inspired me to start playing through them again. If that doesn't appeal (or you don't fancy spending the money) then take advantage of your mood, give up gaming and go do something else you've always fancied - take up a sport or hobby. If after a few weeks you realise you miss the gaming, it'll be there to welcome you back with open pixels! :)
